Another thread, thanks in advance.

I have an old credit card debt, now assigned to Cabot.

I have no idea which credit card this was for though.

I would like to deal with this now,

the default date on my CRA file is around 04/08 but i would dispute this.

The current balance is recorded as around £900 which is about £300 more than the default balance.

Should i just CCA Cabot?

They dont seem to be chasing this debt although i would like it sorted/removed asap.

Some might say that if they aren't actively persuing the debt, let sleeping dogs lie and wait for the statute barred clock to run its course. Either way, whether you pay this debt or not, it will remain on your credit file for a aperiod of 6 years from default

Alternatively if you don't wish to do this, then you should CCA Cabot

Hope this helps

theres no way you'll ever get the default removed

without proving it contained PENALTY charges.

without knowing the OC

you wont be able to SAR them.

OK, i was kind of thinking i would just let it lie. I can probably narrow it down to a couple of credit cards so perhaps it would be better to SAR them and check the account last payment dates. What about the difference in amounts, could that mean someone has added unfair/reclaimable charges?

Edit: Thanks dx, saw your post after mine.

CCA Cabot first, this does not affect the SB date, Cabot will only have the minimum amount of information relating to the account since they aquired it.

This should reveal the original creditor, and save the £10 for a SAR to Cabot which would be wasted.

Update: Sent CCA to Cabot on the 16th Jan, got a reply dated 15th Feb stating they do not have the information requested and have requested it from the original lender. They say they anticipate they will be able to supply this information within 40 days
