Had been on a reduced payment plan with A&L for a credit card and have paid every month the agreed amount for at least 2 years.

Out of the blue I get a letter from Moorgate saying they now own the account and to continue making payments to them.

Should I have had a notice of termination or something from A&L or something?

All seems a bit odd to me as I have heard nothing from A&L.

Without seeing the letter there is no way to know what has been done. It is enough though for moorgate to write to you and tell you they have bought it

The letter is a simple notice of assignment, the matter of a default if any can be resolved by checking CRA files.

Changes such as this are not part of the ''monthly'' update, this type of entry is usually made immediately by the creditor/DCA, maany people use the ''update/change''

alert service to be notified of such changes on credit file entries.
