Oh, of course. Everyone has their own views on the various Doctors, and I certainly don't want to diss David Tennant - he was wonderful. I mean, he stormed through "Blink" and he was hardly even in that episode. What more can you say?

But I'm sure that Matt Smith would fight to ensure that this ridiculous policy never came into effect. I mean, he's me. Except younger, cleverer and better looking.

Well yes, didn't the doctor take down Harriet Smith PM when he didn't like her policies. With four words? Sadly the only words I can come up with for these type of 'initiatives' that think tanks keep churning out, don't bear repeating and wouldn't do a lot of good.......and there would be more than four of them, a lot more.

Before i defend what i said I will say Jon Pertwee then Tom Baker.

Now,all i said was the benefits of exercise are real, I did not say they were the way to lose weight or that people should be forced to go to the gym. If you are able even a walk is beneficial.

If you read my previous post you will see that I am against compulsion and right wing politics. I thought that was obvious to anyone in my extreme comments about paying for health care and even having children. I would say that with limited resources we maybe need to think about surgery such as liver transplants caused by alcohol abuse if the patient refuses to even try and change.

I liked the STI, very appropriate.

Maybe we should cut benefits for sexually active single people.

Oh hello lets just roll the click back and do away with benefits, pensions and health care. After all it is my fault i do not earn enough to pay for it all.

Next great idea is labour camps.

I have just visited the uprising museum in Warsaw and seeing film footage of emaciated bodies of adults and babies being tossed into mass graves makes my blood run cold. Did you know that thru Jews and other "sub human" people had a food fashion of under 200 Calories which was about 6% of that given to the Aryans

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

This would never work or be brought in imo but, I have two friends who have psychosis and as such are on anti-psychotic medication. Anti-psychotics alter the areas of the brain so that it now tells you that you are always hungry and fails to tell you when you are full. People on anti-psychotics unsurprisingly tend to put on weight, one of the friends has been on them less than a year and has gained 3 dress sizes. The other friend has been on them since her teens, before I knew her, and to me she has always been morbidly obese. How is their fault?

I'd like to see these (probably Tory) counsellors and MP's take anti-psychotics and not become overweight!

Many anti-depressants cause weight gain, mirtazipine for one is terrible for it.

Perhaps a survey about just how many ConDem politicians are overweight would be in order?

Name and shame, then insist they go on a fitness regime as a condition of obtaining salary.

Yes it a vicious circle you take pills to fight the illness - which in turn causes another ailment.

We are not fat lazy slobs who sit around all day stuffing our faces.

Maybe if the Government did more to help mentally ill people offered better therapy we might not need so many pills.

Why do the people who least know what is like have to open their mouths (not aimed at people here) and make ludicrous suggestions.

I think we should just stop telling people what they should and should not do with their money.

it is REAL help people want.

Why is less acceptable for the person out of work to spend their money on booze than the person who earns it.

Are we now saying out of work people are second class citizens and not able to live a free life.

If the State pays your keep then the State tells you have to live.

Was a time I recall that so long as you stayed on the right side of the law you were a model citizen.

How times have changed.

Fat

Out of Work

Ill

Drink (to name a few)

and you are now considered ****.

POOR people are to be operated remotely like an unmanned drone, the government has announced.

From April all benefit claimants will be fitted with a headset so they can be controlled by a middle class person who is trained to know what is best for everyone.

Under Human Rights laws, every one has to be treated equally and impartially. If obese people have to go to the gym for them to claim benefits, then every one claiming has to go. I doubt if any council could afford that scenario.

What about those whose medication makes them over weight no matter what they eat. I am 26kgs over weight was exercise is painful and having to take steroids daily does not help either.

God, I'd kill to have free steroids! I have to order them from my pusher in China.

What if the council gave me free Viagra? That would be useful.

Sound like that episode of Homeland where Abu Nazir kills the VP by shutting his pacemaker.

Now back to serious, I think this is terrorism against the poor. I am not sure if they are going to do that but it will put a lot of fear and stoke hate between the working class and the underclass.

Why do people keep quoting me then having a go.

However benefits are a safety net so we can continue to live. If I spent all my ESA on drink and then had to get additional help or handouts to feed myself that would be irresponsible. Equally if I was working and spent all my money on drugs or alcohol and refused help to beat the addiction why should i expect an overworked health service to patch me up yet people are left to die through say rheumatic heart disease or liver cancer.

There are not unlimited resources.

Perhaps being on any kind of state benefit should be a 'protected characteristic' and therefore no harrassment should be acceptable - that would stuff the government completely.

Even better, I heard that some stuffed up MP was going to state that anyone in receipt of unemployment benefit for a long time would be 'made to do suitable work at minimum wage for 6 months'... well if they did that to me I would still be on benefits as my housing costs are higher than the wage I would be getting.

I already do volunteer work so they are on a looser if they think they are going to 'find' me some voluntary stuff. I found that myself.

I have applied for 15 jobs in the last 3 days so I have more than exceeded my 'allowance' and apparently the only thing holding me back is age - so that is something the current government needs to look at for their next 'NEET' (Not in employment, education or training) age range, how many people over the age of 50 have been long term unemployed - and how many had their jobs cut due to government initiatives to 'cull' the service they were in!

The whole thing is about employment, but not so much for the unemployed or those who are disabled, they are a secondary action.

The unemployed and disabled are a major asset to the economy.

How many are employed because of the unemployed and disabled?

How much tax is paid to the government directly and indirectly?

How much does the unemployed and the disabled contribute to shareholders and the stockmarket?

In one way, you could say that the unemployed and disabled are a major employer in society.

How many Police, Solicitors, Barristers, Judges depend on crime to make a living?

You're right, there aren't unlimited resources. But what good is taking benefits from someone just because they're overweight? These people need help; not their money taken away from them.

Maybe there are different discussions going on here. The suggestion was taking HB off people who were overweight and didn't go to the gym. I think that this has been rebuked. We then moved on to general big brother stuff and should we pay for self caused illnesses. I made some very sarcastic comments about why not go the whole hog and have labour camps etc

I have never heard such warped logic. So i am sick therefore the job i could do is being done by someone else who is paying tax.

The sick and unemployed are the ones who commit crime? Who do you think pay the bills for lawyers judges and police.the tax payer.

I don't think Astro meant that. A lot of disabled people are victims of crime.

@Fletch70 I don't know how you ended up thinking that.

If your sick, those involved with dealing you would be doctors, nurses and all the clerical staff, Dwp staff, Call center staff, Atos staff, council staff, etc., etc.,

If you were getting DLA and used the payment to lease a car, there would be Garage staff, sales staff, administrative staff, Mechanics, staff at Motability (the non profit organisation), staff at motability Finance Ltd (the private company) owned by the banks, etc.,

This all creates employment and also tax for the government.

There is a lot of people are employed in the system because people are unemployed, sick and disabled.

It's the same as there are lots of people employed in the Justice system because of crime.

The more things the government can find the unemployed, sick and disabled to do, in order to obtain their benefits, the more the jobs will be created and tax payed. It's a knock on effect that keeps the economy going.

Since 95% of diets fail, you should see the money that is made by the obesity industry - billions, then add that to those who make crappy sugary processed food and make billions, the only people that benefit from obesity are the corporations feediing it and pretending to treat it. But I suppose it keeps plenty of people in jobs.
