Had no signal on my phone from around 12.30 and was still off at 3.30am.

Was anyone else affected ?

I saw this somewhere while doing a surf for any interesting news:

"I'm on Vodafone. I tried to send 98 texts at 23:53. I think the first 30 or so texts got through, but everything after midnight failed to deliver. Kept on failing even at 00:40.

Went to bed. Tried resending all the failed texts at 05:30. They all got sent.

And I was still receiving texts that were sent by others shortly after midnight at 5am!

Vodafone got well and truly blazed. "

If all Vodafone customers sent that many texts at midnight, no wonder if crashed.

It all depends on the cell site/ mast your phone is currently assigned to, how many other users are linked to it and what they're doing!

Think of cell sites as a road and mobile phones as cars on that road. Just you and you can get there quickly. Hundreds of other users and it gets clogged up and everything takes time. Believe it or not, cell sites have a limited bandwidth which normally in everyday use you wouldn't notice.

Not to.mention Vodafone's servers which handle the data etc being stretched at that time to handle the volume of traffic!

Still on the lookout for buried treasure!

Any advice I give here is based on my own experiences throughout my life, career and training and should not be taken as accurate. If in doubt, speak to someone more qualified - a Solicitor, Citizens Advice to name but two possible avenues!

Yes understand this.

Just that coverage in my area is brilliant, and I think one reason why Vodafone is so popular.

I have never experienced this before even on past new years eve.

It's not just texts and calls any more... tweeting and updating facebook status on the stroke of midnight will all have all jammed the network.

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

Or send a cheque or postal order payable to Reclaim the Right Ltd.

to

Click here if you fancy an email address that shows you mean business! (only £6 and that will really help CAG)

If you can't donate, please use the Internet Search boxes on the CAG pages - these will generate a small but regular income for the site
