I hope I don't sound too pedantic if I say that, while commercial chocolate is bad as it contains too much sugar and low quality cocoa, raw cocoa powder is actually beneficial ,despite its actual fat content. It's very rich in polyphenols and in particular oligomeric anthocyanins, that restore endothelial function. Make sure you buy "non-dutched" cocoa powder, as it's the one that contains the above mentioned antioxidant.

Tesco sell own brand low-fat cocoa powder which is also "non-dutched".

  • 1 month later...

I know this will probably not help some people, but I hope it will motivate others. At 14st 3lbs I was at least 2st overweight two years ago. Since then I have lost over 2st without 'dieting'. I know its a bit of a cliché, but the truth is I have simply learned to eat less. I now eat everything in moderation, including anything from chocolate to cheese. I used to pile on the weight with ease but honestly I can now maintain below 12st without any conscious effort. I my experience as soon as you start talking diets you end up in a yo-yo cycle. Start by learning to eat less at each meal, you will surprise yourself believe me.

I totally agree I now eat about two thirds the amount I used to have on a plate I have gone from 16 stone 8 to 15 11 in 18 months just by eating a bit less I used to feel hungry at first now I am just used to eating less.
