Surfer01 Did the Labour party realy get the country in Debt?,or was it the Bankers and companies not paying their just dues and wealthy people using every loop hole to avoid paying tax.Seems strange that practicaly every country in the world is in the same boat ,no doubt it was Labours fault also!.Easy to blame the previous administration and when you hear the Tories trot the same thing out all the time "its Labours fault"as Goeballs said tell a lie often enough and it will be believed. Well it looks like they are going to go for tax credits now ,Duncan Smith says that they have created a dependancy and thats labours fault as well.

Without a doubt the blame can be laid at the feet of the last government. Look at the facts. Even if by some miracle Labour had been re-elected I have no doubt that they would have imposed the same draconian measures. At present they are very quiet about these measures and it is highly unlikely that they will revoke them if they got elected in the next election. That is the stark reality!

Look at the facts? Ok, here they are:

Even Osborne ended up having to admit that they were lying throughout and still are.

Labour are not being that quiet, if you followed what's happening at grassroot level, you'd realise that they are starting to change their stance. Too slowly, not strongly enough, but it's still better than what the tories have in store for us plebs.

yeah i read DS tirade, yesterday about the tax credit situation, funny though the figure he quoted of 10 billion is exactly the amount they want to cut off the budget this year!! though i have mixed feelings about tax credits where really businesses should be picking up the tab and paying a decent wage so people are not 'forced' to claim this inwork benefit, whillst if you are out of work then you should be given enough to help out... but this constant attack on welfare claimants is playing well to the mob mentality, they little realise that one day this could be them!! hitler found that demonizing a proportion of the population made good tabloid press and kept the masses thinking about something else whilst the top 1% were busy lining their pockets or gaining more power, the con/dems are playing a dangerous game which coud backfire badly on them in the future, i for one would gladly pay more in tax to help the more unfortunate of this country, but this should be applied equally across the board not just to us 'plebs'

Labour arent going to do anything for the Disabled.

Dont forget it was THEY that started this entire ESA farce, and nothing's going to happen with a Tory leading the party and with most shadow ministers simply Tories in disguise.

What we want is Dennis Skinner running the Party. Wouldnt that be a blast !

Blair destroyed Labour by destroying the Socialism part of it then adhering to standard Tory policies, but under a banner of NEW Labour. It was OLD Tory

What we need is a return to OLD labour, a Party that looks after the people first

This has nothing to do with saving money. Taking the cars away from a couple of hundred thousend scroungers will cost a lot more than letting them keep them. This wording explains the reasons.

The facts are the losses to the car industry will be catastrophic; there will be lost jobs in sales, sevicing, and manufacture. There will be massive damage done to the car market with dumping of 1000s of nearly ne vehicles (taken from people who fail the new ATOS tests), etc.

Along with all the car industry worker claiming dole there will be a plothora of disabled who can no longer work due to the lose of their allowance who will also add to the dole.

But hey, think of all those happy voters who'll feel warm because us scrouging **** no longer get new BMWs for free [sic].

i had to give up my mobility car because it was pointless keeping it.

my partner was not allowed to use the car to get to work; most of the time the car was sat on our drive not doing nothing!!

it was too much money too loose my mobility component for!!

i also think these mobility cars are used by people not really entitled to them!!

i do worry however about the new pip mobility component, i rely on my high rate dla mobility because i get a bus pass which helps me get out and about, and my blue badge which is a godsend when my partner and i go out in the car.

without my buss pass, i fear i would be stuck in doors all day which is not healthy.

Why wasn't your partner able to use the car to get to work? The car is for the benefit of the disabled person. I don't think there's a definition of benefit to the disabled person. But you can argue that if your partner goes to work using your car, it is benefiting you - it means you have a roof over your head.

I'm fairly certain it doesn't work like that Nystagmite. If the car was used by her partner for going to work then that would be him using a car he's not entitled to. If the car was used solely by someone to drive her around then that would be fine. The rules are quite clear and tight. I would imagine very few people at all use a motability car for which they are not entitled.

As for a bus pass, Lucky7, in my area they are free. You don't have to pay for one do you?

I thnk what he meant was because he had HRM he got a blue badge and a bus pass, and he feared that if he lost his HRM he would lose them. I don't think he needs to worry though; AFAIK the criterea for blue badges is not changing (you do not need HRM to get a blue badge), and the blue badge gets you the bus pass.

I just got a blue badge and bus pass without having HRM. Very nice lady at the council who issues bus passes says they have been told the criteria for blue badges and bus passes is staying the same.

You call the Puff post reliable? Thanks for making my day as I feel so much better now having had a good laugh. :-D

You don't accept George Osborne's admission as reliable? Or you don't accept all these agencies' comments as reliable?

You criticise the Post's article, yet swallow the Mail's propaganda as accurate?

Well, you sure as hell didn't give me a laugh... you scared the bejeesus out of me, because you represent precisely the kind of people who will keep on denying the facts to the bitter end, and that is not funny. But hey, glad you're prepared to blame anyone but the culprits for the perfect storm that is gathering over all of our heads. Let me know how that works out for you over the next couple of years.

Must depend on which council, ours is planning on tightening the criteria a LOT, and they're already rarely accepting anyone who's not on HRM as it is. :-(

I get HRM but am too scared of the abuse to get a blue badge. Quite frankly, all they'd have to do to get me to give my motability car back (not a flash car, a fiesta) is to rule that all motability cars have to have a big label on them saying 'motability'. Just being visibly disabled now gets derisive comments from people. It's really shocking. I worry that too many people are swallowing the propoganda and won't care much about some cars being taken off of people - they'll probably figure that no one 'deserving' will lose their car.

Many people have said in general that genuine people have nothing to worry about. Yet, they want 500,00 people off DLA. I find it hard to believe that 500,000 are cheating the system.

Unfortunately it's not about the genuine and the cheating, it's about redefining 'genuine'. Get ready for the daily fail stories lauding the fact that thousands of 'cheaters' who had to give their cars back - of course these will be the people able to walk between 20 and 50 metres.

I guess I'm lucky that I've never received nor witnessed any abuse whilst using my blue badge. As for motability cars, people don't seem to understand that they are not some freebie. They are paid for by the motability customer. There is nothing wrong with a person who receives HRM spending their mobility component on, er, mobility.

I know. I don't use my car often (nearly three years old and 2500 miles on it) but I figure the award is for mobility outdoors, so that's what I use the money for. Could I be spending the money on other things - yes, butI figure it's more honest to use the money for it's intended purpose, rather than just an 'income top up'. But maybe some people would prefer it that way, I don't know why though. People get in a lather about child benefits being used for things other than children, so you'd think they'd be happy that disabled people used their benefit for something directly disability related.

Indeed, that's how I see it. I'm not surprised that PIP, in the main, has been tossed into the long grass until after the next election. If you add together the number of disabled people who would lose their independence with the people in the motor industry who would feel the effects you end up with a large bloc of pee'd off voters. I don't think the government had thought through the ramifications and it could still be a massive own goal for Irritable Duncan Smith. I wouldn't be surprised to see some major tweeking to PIP if it comes in ...

Yes, I think by the next election IDS may well have egg all over his face. I don't see PIP going smoothly and the UC computer system is ineffective 25% of the time, while the person in charge of the computer system lies and claims 95% accuracy. Not looking good for IDS.

It's kinda off topic here, but one thing I do agree with IDS about is that Tax Credits have created dependency. There is now a whole class of employers who are dependent on the government to pay their staff a living wage. For too long these shysters have assumed that they don't actually have to offer proper wages, knowing that the government will pick up the tab.

This is a problem, and these scrounging employers should not be allowed to have their staff costs picked up by the taxpayer. If they can't afford to pay the wages demanded by the sacred Free Market, they should not be in business, and the government should not be assisting them.

So true, and yet IDS will still talk about dependency culture of the claimants, when it is the low wages causing the problem.
