Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice on this.

I rencently moved house and when at my new address Scottish Power made an agreement with me (in writing) that I could pay off both a gas and electricity debt from my previous address at £10 per month each and duly sent me a payment card for each one. I have made these payments and they are both up to date.

Recently without any warning they have passed these debts on to a debt collection agency and who have already tried to phone me several times. I sent an email to Scottish Power but in their reply they have ignored all my queries and request for information.

Today I have received a letter from S C |Gray solicitors demanding the full gas debt be paid by the 20th December or else I will be taken to court.

Can Scottish power just backtrack on an agreement that they have made with me for no reason?

Thanks

thebighill.

Just carry on paying SP as per your agreement using the payment cards you where issued with and keep the Receipt in a safe place.

Do not pay any money to DCA

agreed

we have SP rep here

i'm sure gerry will concur

an NO the dca cant go near a court with this.

just hot air!

they are NOT bailiffs andhave NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS

dx

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thanks for the replies, they are what I was hoping for

Think I should get a letter off to the solicitors and inform them that I am in dispute with Scottish Power.

I'll probably be back :)

Don't write and waist a stamp writing to solicitors/DCA.

As long as you stick to the original agreement with SP and pay the debt off in full, there Nothing else they can do the solicitors/DCA are just trying to scare you into early payment...

Don't miss a payment , I take it you kept payments up to date?
