Jim , I bought a second hand car from a dealer, it has No road tax.

I bought a second hand car from a dealer 1 week ago, it has. No road tax, I plan to tax it from 1st jan, can I buy the road tax a few days before as post office is closed on that date

You can apply for a new tax disc up to 2 months before your current tax disc runs out.

 

Not all Post Offices that issue tax discs will issue them in advance - contact the Post Office to find out which branches do.

Strange, not many dealers will sell a car without it being taxed... how did you drive it away?

Has the reg doc been sent of to put in your name??.

If it has you will have to tax it from the beginning of Dec.

Has the car been registered in your name and SORNed? If not, it needs to be insured otherwise expect a fine?
