Hello Trying to find out some info for a friend. Long story short, they missed their medical 3 times (ill twice and broken hearing aid the 3rd time) and now they have had their claim stopped. GP and the hospital don't want to help with an appeal.

Can a new claim be made for ESA or is there a 6 month waiting period?

Would a new claim depend on the outcome of the appeal?

If you fail a new claim medical do you get paid during the appeal process (bearing in mind they have already stopped the benefit)?

not fit for work so what can you do for money?

Thanks for any/all help in advance

AFAIK for faileding to turn up for WCA, no ESA will now be paid even on a new claim until such time as a work assessment has been carried out. Why won't her GP help her with an appeal if she was ill on the previous assessment days?

Did your friend tell the dwp about why they could not attend their medical and give reasons? And have they also get help from their doctor and hospital?

maybe because they didn't see the GP when they were ill. The 1st time they were ill they had a sickness bug that lasted a few days and went on its own, the 2nd time they had a chest infection and already had a supply of antibiotics to help deal with that and the 3rd time also didn't involve the GP because it was a trip to the hospital.

Yes they told the DWP over the phone why they couldnt attend the medical which they accepted for the 1st 2 medical appointments but for the 3rd they had to send a letter with the reason, which they did.

Maybe no help from GP, in my previous post and no help from the hospital because it wasn't an official appointment.

Thanks again for your help.
