Hello everyone.

I have been looking all over the internet to try and find help but i am at a loss.

I have lots of unsecured debts.

I had to give up work about a year ago on health grounds and get esa.

I can see no immediate prospect of getting back into any kind of work.

When i was working my debt was manageable just but now as you can imagine i am stuffed.

I have looked at a couple of websites and tried out their theories but am still being hassled on a daily basis.

I do not know what to try next

,what are the chances of getting the debts written off?

Do i just ignore and hope for the best.

My debts range from 15k to £250 and all amounts between.

Any help would be appreciated.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi Newtoy, Firstly don't panic about these if they are all unsecured debts, credit cards, catalogs etc..

Make a list of all the debts and the figures they claim you owe them then write to each company explaining your on ESA

and have limited funds.

Depending on how many companies you owe to offer a token payment of £1 to each, If this amounts to more than you can afford then reduce it to 50p.

All the companies will moan and most likely send out an I&E form (do not fill it out they have no right to it, only a court can ask you to fill one out)

Its important if you can afford it, to send all offers of token payments via recorded delivery or at the least get a postal receipt (free) from the post office.

Most companies who then know your situation will not go near court as this costs them money and with no prospects of receiving it all in one lump sum they will just threaten it

in all their letters.

If you get any of the companies agreeing and send you banking details make sure it is only a standing order set up and not a direct debit then you are in control of how much they get paid.

Once you have all that sorted out you can then start looking at any charges added to any of the accounts that can be re-claimed, credit cards and catalogs are the worst offenders.
