I'm new to this site , but I would like help to . I had a credit card in 2005 with halifax and I now have been told I had PPI on it .

I didn't need it and didn't want it . I get full sick pay and been in the same job then 10 years so my job was very safe .

I also have critical illness policy with my mortgage , I made a complaint trying yo get my money back but got told to bog of ! Shall I try to take it further ??

The Halifax have said I apply for it over the Internet so this means it was not miss sold ? I would never have taken this if it was shown as a option !! When I asked the bank to tell me how I asked for it they sent me a credit agreement with my signature under payment protection wanted ????

It was also signed the same date that I was surposed to have applyed on line ??? Does this sound right !! How could j have signed if it was on Line ?? Have I got a case to take it further ??? Pretty please help

I will ask the PPI people to look in on you.. However, nearly all the banks are simply rejecting claims for refunds at the moment.. You will need to be firm with them.

Did you enclose a spreadsheet with your figures on when you made the claim ?

I think you probably need to apply again.. but do it with the FOS claim form, which can be downloaded from their website.

If you have statements then that is good.. if you dont, you should send a Subject Access Request which is a request for all data in respect of your financial dealings with HBoS. Then complete one of the spreadsheets from CAG.. then resubmit your claim.

Their claim that it was applied for on the internet is disingenous and they know it.

can you scan up the letter please

scan the required letters/agreements/sheets - as a picture[jpg] file

don't forget you can use a mobile phone or a digital camera too!!

'

BUT......

ENSURE: remove all pers info inc. barcodes etc using paint program

but leave all figures and dates. {DO NOT USE A BIRO OR PEN]

convert existing PC files to PDF [office has an installable print to PDF option]

..

goto one of the many free online pdf converter websites [http://docupub.com/pdfconvert/]

it would be better to upload a multipage pdf if

you have many images too rather than many single pdfs

.

or if you have PDF as an installed printer drive use that

or use word and save as pdf

try and logically name your file so people know what it is.

i'e Default notice dd-mm-yyyy

.

open a new msg box here

hit go advanced below the msg box

hit manage attachments below that box

hit the add files button on the top right

hit select files, navigate to your file on your pc

hit upload files

I know they say I applyed on Internet ,

but I must have signed in branch I guess .

Shouldn't they have explained it to me then if I was signing for it ???

Also I was on maternity at the time after just having my little girl and I was also pregnant with my boy .

( she was 11 weeks old when I got pregnant with him ) .

Wouldn't this have made the ppi invalid anyway ???

Should I ring them with this information or is it to late ?

thee are many many cases of sign-up

sites that refused to let you continue unless ppi is ticked

or

that were pre-ticked and you had to untick it

both the FOS have already ruled upon in the punter favour.

simply [without waffle]

reply to both letters [by mail]

stating CLEARLy that you find it very insulting

to be 'brushed-off' by mere 'speculation'

that the correct process DID take place.

TBH:

your mistake here was to use the phone.

ideally any PPI complaint should be made using

http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/technical_notes/ppi.html

i'd also do the same for the mortgage.

Yes. The routine is that you fill in the personal details on the Internet, much like getting an application form sent out in the post. Then they review the details to make sure you qualify for a credit card (employment, salary, credit rating, outstanding loans etc...). If that goes through, they call you in to get the form signed, card issued and complete the process.

At any time, someone could have ticked the PPI box for you. If you were not working at the time, PPI wouldn't be of any help to you.

I think you need to start thinking about taking your complaint to the Ombudsman.

Thankyou , if you think I might have a chance i will do x

It certainly wont do any harm, and it wont cost you anything.

If you want to pop up a draft of what you intend saying to the ombudsman BEFORE you actually send it, perhaps we can help you present it correctly.
