I bought my laptop 5 months ago, the space bar has now decided it only wants to work on one side and not the other, sometimes it doesnt work at all. I rang argos and they say they'll send it off to be repaired, its only 5 months old and i really dont want it 'repairing'... would i be able to get a replacement or do they have to send it for repair.. I had been told im within my rights to ask for a replacement but just wanted to check first

thank you

Don't know if you resolved this or not, but its up to the retailer whether to repair, replace or refund. As long as it is done in a reasonable timeframe. The cost of a new keyboard will be low so repair will be best for them and you get your problem resolved. They will also want to check that the fault is down to breakdown and not acc dam. What did they do in the end?
