Changing the solicitors in a case?

We have a solicitor in an insurance compensation case after a car accident in February 2011, the other part has admitted liability. My husband was injured and had to have an operation afterward. I was not so badly hurt and my case was dealt with really quickly and we do understand these cases take time but the solicitors we have do not reply to calls or e-mails. The next stage was supposed to be an appointment with a specialist in October (this year) and they wrote to say they would sort it for last month but it has not been organised. We try not to bombard them with complaints but they do not reply to any e-mails or calls to ask how things are progressing, all we are asking is for promises to be kept and to be kept informed of progress.

 

My question is can we change solicitors now?

Are they "no win no fee" sols?

I'm not sure about sacking them... There might be something in the small print if you terminate the claim with them and change to a different solicitors. They would probably try to charge YOU for all the work they've done so far.

 

These cases are notoriously slow.

 

Personally, I would pester and bombard your current solicitors!!

Of course you can change solicitors if you're not happy.

 

Just call up another firm you want to use and if they want to take the case they'll arrange for your file to be transferred.
