Lets remember there is 5% VAT on domestic fuel so anything they say about keeping the price down is pure bull. They could lead by example and make domestic fuel zero rated.

There seems to be some very misleading information in that article. Firstly I would like to make it very clear that suppliers do not invest at all in the power grid, power stations, national grid at all. They are simply a retailer selling power that they have bought from the distributor. They may have names giving the impression that they are a distributor, but they are not! Their profits are moved onto shareholders and not anywhere else to improve the supply of electric.

Unfortunately people think that they are making the huge profits to re-invest which is why there is not a big outcry when a suppleir makes millions in profit as the consumer does not realsie that it is going into shareholder's pockets!

Many people pay a fixed amount by DD each month which in essence means the supplier is acting as a bank, but paying no interest! I wonder how much in interest they take in on this money. If we all had SMART meters and you were billed the exact and correct amount each month, we as the consumer may be better off as no more estimated bills.
