Hello,

I wouldn't normally crow on about people knocking on the door, but today,

I received a call from my ex who said somebody acting on behalf of WageDayAdvance was knocking on the door.

My ex answered it and the door was flung open (It's a studio flat, so can see everything) and the chap went on to say

"Mr Young, can we have a chat about your account?"

to which my ex replied, I'm not him.

He went on to say "You owe money and I'm going to have to talk to you and set up arrangements".

Now, the guy got quite pushy and said that if he wasn't allowed in, he would return with the police and a van to remove all the goods,

to which my ex said, whatever and went to close the door.

Then, he stuck his foot in the door and said something along the lines of "Pay up or else" at which point the door was closed and locked.

The DCA stood there for a good 10 minutes and could be heard asking passing neighbours if they knew if a MR. Young lived there, to which nobody knew.

He had in his hand a piece of paper he kept waving around with my name and details on, along with the WDA logo.

Now, firstly, I've no idea how he got into my ex's block of flats, because it's done on a keyfob system which you can only over-ride if you're Royal Mail or the Housing association.

Secondly, flinging the door open nearly knocking the occupant over...?

My ex isn't small, but apparently this bloke was quite heavy built and got very aggressive.

What route should I take? My ex isn't all that phased by it, as I said, we're both over 6'3 tall and can hold our own, but I just think it's disgraceful practice.

Regards,

Yukiko

sounds like the silly little debt collector thinks he has powers

he is not a bailiff and never will be and there will be no removing of goods with the police ,the police would not get involved with a civil case

next time the silly little Muppet turns up tell him to do one otherwise the police will be removing him

If i have helped in any way hit my star.

any advice given is based on experience and learnt from this site :-)

oh!!

i feel an OFT complaint coming on ........

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

More than OFT needed here, the police should be informed clearly the actions of the collector are deceptive if not fraudulent, the throwing back of the door could be construde as an assault, and the abuse and threatening behaviour need attention to.

A formal complaint to the loan company copied to the OFT as soon as possible.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I am aware that he can't just "turn up with a Transit and the Police to take goods"... But the cheek of it? I've never heard of anything like it before. Had a phone call yesterday saying that they will come to my work place, any associated addresses and so on to make contact, yet, I've stated to them that I have no associated addresses, the address that I'm at is the one on file.

I went on to say that coming to my work place is not an option as it's owned and run by the MOD, to which they said, we will come.

I'd like to see them try and get within 15ft of the place without being chucked in the back of a van and escorted off site!

Drives me mad, they refuse payment arrangement after payment arrangement, refuse to play ball with the CCCS and then go pulling stunts like this.

I wish I could remember the name of the DCA, because I'd name and shame. I'll wait for the next speculative phone call and report back.

Makes me want to get a Payday loan just so I can default on it and play their little game. Put your foot in my door and I'll break your leg.

And me, not sure about breaking his leg mind, but an ambulance might be required.

I would certainly be informing the police of this incident sounds more like a loan shark rather than a licenced PDL company.

My route would be,

Police,

OFT&TS,

Local MP,

And to keep a camera at the door, just in case tubby is foolish enough to try his bully boy intimidation tactics a second time.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
