Good evening I wonder if anyone could advise me on here please?

I live with my partner in a house mortgaged by NRAM we fell into financial trouble some years back and took out a secured loan on the property for £15,000. We made payments then Welcome got into trouble and we heard no more for a couple of years.

It would appear that Raven bought the debt and they are chasing us for payment, we have an arrangement to pay £100 off of the balance of £26,895.00 (the original loan was 15K).

Can they repossess the house although NRAM have the first charge and there would be no equity in it? They keep threatening to and it is freaking me out a bit.

Thanks

Deb

get a copy of your CRA file

see who actually OWNS the debt.

as far as welcome are concerned

IF they've sold the debt [unlikely unless there is something REALLY wrong with it]

there will be heeps of charges and lots of 'compulsory' insurances.

i'd sar welcome.

whom are you paying.

sri but welcome dont sell a debt of that value without something being SERIOUSLY wrong with it.

the OP needs to discover WHAT that is.

it could blow the whole issue right out the water.

raven are one of the lowest lemon chasers.

if there was any hope of getting the money through the courts

lewis woud have taken it on and gone straight to court.

there is something here we nor the op know about.

I would send an S.A.R. to Welcome and find out what charges have been added to the account. How old is this debt exactly?

What is the interest rate?

Did you make the arrangement with Raven or Welcome?

As dx100uk has said something is not right with the amount of money owing on a £15,000 debt a few years ago.

Hi thanks for all your replies. The loan was taken out in early 2006 from what I can recall. The payments were being made to Welcome and then when they went into difficulty we heard nothing for over a year and then Raven wrote to say they are chasing the debt on behalf of their client Welcome. Are Welcome still in existence? I thought they had gone. How do I go about an SAR? Thank you all for your help

Subject Access Request - there is a draft letter in the CAG library - amend it to suit, include £10.00 and send it to the original creditor.

If you had an agreement for repaying the debt then I dont think the new owner can renege on that.

If as you say, NRAM has the first charge and there is little or no equity in the property.. then IMHO, there is little point in the 2nd charge company taking steps to repossess as they will end up with nothing !
