hello

recently my partner told me that she had not been paying 4 catalogue debts for around 4 months as her working hours have been reduced,

she is relieved that i know about it now and i have told her not to worry and we will try and sort it out,

the main problem is i am unsure of how to go about it all.

3 catalogues are with

very,

isme and

littlewoods

who i understand are all part of shop direct and one other ,

only one of these has been passed over to ndr who i understand are there in house dca

she called one that had not been passed over to tell them she can't pay at the moment

and was told they will all be handed over to ndr and to call them ,ndr

said call back in 2 weeks to arrange a payment plan

. who should i try and deal with ndr or catalogue companies ,

unfortunately we are not in a position to pay at the moment but charges are constantly adding to the total ,

there are also buy now pay later items that are coming to an end

so obviously the balance will increase there as the terms have been broken ,

i have had a good look around the posts but i am unsure of what i should do to start to deal with creditors .

we are trying to deal with this and would appreciate any advice .

thanks

Hi and welcome to CAG!

You are indeed correct that NDR are inhouse collectors for the shop direct group.

NDR love putting you on a 28 day payment plan and charging you £12 as you repay it every 31 days. Don't fall this rubbish as these charges are unlawful.

Have a look in the Debt collection library for some letter templates that may help your situation.

As NDR are really Littlewoods etc, it does not matter who you really deal with.

hi p101

i've moved your thread to the cat forum

plenty of info here

have a read.

first thing is just remember that cat debts are very low priority

and if/if not the DCA has their eyes on you makes no odds!

always deal direct with the catalogue company

dca's are NOT bailiffs, & in most cases have NO legal powers to do anything to you.

you mention PENALTY charges...

for every ONE of those get reclaiming.

they are unlawful ... end off.

TELL [dont ask] them they are only going to get £xxPCM for xx mts

as a goodwill gesture

and as a reciprocal GOGW they must freeze int & refrain from levying PENALTY charges.

if they wont

drop them to £1PCM for life.

i.e......

I am currently in financial difficulties and not able to meet my normal monthly repayments.

to show my goodwill, i am going to pay £5 for 6 mts.

i will update you in 6mts time or before, should my situation change.

could you please as a reciprocal goodwill guesture,

refrain from levying any penalty charges & freeze the interest on my account.?

Should you fail to assist me during a period of financial difficulty, contrary to all the guidelines and codes

issued by the relevent bodies and authorities that govern you and the way you conduct yourselves.

i shall have no alternative but to reduce my offer to £1PCM for the rest of the life of the account,

as your actions would do nothing to help me.

i thank you for your time.

dx

then pay by your internet banking site

and get reclaiming

TAKE CONTROL

or

if you have sent the above and they refuse

then write back........

i'm sorry, but you have failed to assist me during a period of financial difficulty, against all the guidelines and codes

issued by the relevent bodies and authorities that govern you and the way you conduct yourselves.

i repeat again, the contents of my letter dated dd/mm/yyyy, for want of clarification:

to show my goodwill, i am going to pay £XX for XX mts

could you please as a reciprocal goodwill guesture, refraining from levying any penalty charges & freeze the interest on my account.

i will update you in 6mts time or before, should my situation chance.

should you fail to help by refraining from levying unlawful PENALTY charges & freeze my interest,

i shall have no alternative but to reduce my offer to £1PCM for the rest of the life of the account,

as your actions are doing nothing to help me.

This is contrary to the rules you should operate under.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

thanks for the replies ,

i have been having a good look about the forums and will keep doing so ,

i'll also check out the library,

i'll send off the £5 pound letters to the 3 seperate catalogue companies ( is this correct as they are all under 1 company ) and ignore ndr at the moment ,

i realise that i need to get a bit more clued up on this and would just like to get the ball rolling so we can feel as if we're trying to do something ,

dx the charges last month were over £100 and this is something we will get into once a bit more savvy,

i know in the big picture these are low priority debts but still causing a few sleepness nights as were not doing anything about it and debt going up and up . thanks again
