Caggers good morning, I had a loan with citifinancial and it was paid off in 2007, it had PPI on it. I've sent a letter recorded over 2 weeks ago (still showing as being processed through the mail system best £1.55, I've spent not!) requested the loan number so I can get a PPI claim in. If it comes to nothing is it worth sending a SAR without any loan agreement number. I've been to the bank and as it is so long ago, they no longer keep the reference numbers on file. So I'm stuck as to how to get the information I need to get a claim in. If its recommended I do SAR citifinancial, what should I include as proof of identity, as I been reading and these people are a pain to get information out of. I've even rang there head office to be told each time the computer system isn't working. The loan still shows on my CRA but the CRA cannot give me the loan number either. Thanks PM

  • 4 weeks later...

Morning has anyone ever had dealings with Citifinancial,

I'm trying to SAR them to claim back PPI on a loan and all my requests via recorded delivery seem not to make it to their destinations.

I'd sent one to the branch I'd took the loan out for it to be returned and sent one to their main HQ in Canary Wharf and its still not showing as delivered.

The last request was nearly 3 weeks ago,

I spoke to Royal Mail and they said I would have to put a claim in to get my postal order money back.

Is there any way of finding out if its been cashed (the postal order that is).

I've worked out the amount and it's quite a big claim as well but I don't have the loan number hence the SAR request.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. PM

early evening all

I finally got a DSAR signed for by Citifinancial a month ago and got a reply back today saying that the

"address I've provided for your client differs from the one we have on record,

can we have a copy of x,y,z showing your clients current address".

Well as I'm the client, and I signed the DSAR I'm at a bit of a loss as to why they are asking for further info.

Is it a stalking tactic they use as now I'm gonna now have to send another letter registered post to these monkeys.

Also as they signed for the original DSAR on the 02 Jul 12 is this when the 40 days clock starts counting,

as if it does they only have until 10 Aug 12 by my reckoning to get back to me with all the info.

They also sent my cheque back aswell.

Any thoughts or pointers would help greatly as I'm writing back to them tomorrow with what they have asked for.

Cheers PM

  • 2 weeks later...

afternoon all, after sending in my driving licence to prove who I am to cifi (via their head office at Citigroup in Canary Wharf) the SAR 40 day point was up on 10 Aug 12. They still haven't cashed the cheque I sent them again either. I'm taking for granted they have 40 days to response from first signing for the original DSAR. Now is it worth waiting 7 days to see if they actually cash the cheque and send the SAR info or should I go for the LBA to force their hand? As always the help is much appreciated. Cheers PM

Hi I got my SAR reply today with all the info I need to start a claim,

it seems (I didn't even realise) that I had two loans with Citi (associates) both with Optional Insurance and an arrangement fee.

Do I do two seperate PPI calculations for the claim and can I add on the arrangement fee aswell?

It also looks like it was a one off lump sum payment for the PPI that was included in the loan agreement.

I can scan and post on here if it helps.

Cheers PM

Copies of agreements with figures on links below. I'm not sure whether it was a pay monthly or the lump sum PPI I'm dealing with here but any help would be appreciated as I don't want to give them any room to wriggle out.

cant read postage stamps

scan the required letters/agreements/sheets - as a picture[jpg] file

don't forget you can use a mobile phone or a digital camera too!!

or

convert existing PC files to PDF [office has an installable print to PDF option]

.

'

BUT......

ENSURE: remove all pers info inc barcodes etc using paint program

but leave all figures and dates.

.

goto one of the many free online pdf converter websites

it would be better to upload a multipage pdf if

you have many images too rather than many single pdfs

.

or if you have PDF as an installed printer drive use that

or use word and save as pdf

.

open a new msg box here

hit go advanced below the msg box

hit manage attachments below that box

hit the add files button on the top right

hit select files, navigate to your file on your pc

hit upload files

.

looks ok

i've got to pop out

but see how you get on with

This first spreadsheet is the latest version of the statutory interestlink3.gif calculator and is used for Single Premium PPIlink3.gif cases. It can also be used where rollover PPI is involved, i.e. a new loan re-financing a previous one and where PPI is included in one or more loans.

StatIntSheet v101.xls

read the read notes tab at the botton too.

you'll need to work out the PPI PCM

total cash price of PPI / total cash price of loan x 100 = xx%

findout what xx% was of your PCM = thats the PPI PCM

fill in the SOC for every PPI PCM payment you ACTUALLY MADE and the date.

look on loan 2 for the figure of refinance of loan one

xx% of that too , is your rollover PPI figure into loan2.

Hi DX I've had a go and it works out just over £4500 not including arrangement fees, postal costs and DSAR refund. I've followed the single premium PPI thread done by ims21 to the button, is there anyone I can get to double check my figures as I wasn't expecting it to be that much. Cheers PM

Ok had a look.

16 payments made on loan 1 before refinancing into loan 2 by the look of it.

Your close enough with your workings on the assumption that no rebate for PPI was given when loan 1 was settled.

I'd say it is good to go :-)

Hi ims21 thanks for having a quick check, there was no rebate given on the PPI. I'm taking for granted that I just now put a letter into Citifinancial with a copy of the SOC saying I want my money back? Or do I need to include anything else as I've seen in a couple of threads a questionnaire has been included aswell, is this the FOS questionnaire? Ta PM
