Hello,

Wall rendering solutions,

previously called render exterior wall coatings (in 2011)

did the rendering in my house (Nov 2011)which went wrong

- render started flaking,

missing around pipes and other places.

This happened within 2 weeks after finishing job.

Also as the wrong window protection was put on the windows,

the crew left a sticky glue on the windows and damages marble window sills.

All was reported to the director of the company ,

He promised to correct it.

After many promises he never came and resolved the issues.

In Feb this year all letters sent to the company started to coming back to me.

I called MD and asked for the new address

- he again said to me the one that was not occupied by him.

Then I found in Google that MD changed the name of the company and more that he does it EVERY/ EVERY SECOND or TWICE A YEAR.

I was shocked what I found.

In the meantime I contacted trading standards, went to cab and found out that the only way is to take him to the court...

Until now he has not sorted the problems, all stays on promises.

He offers 25 years of warrenty that is uselless so be carefull, my advice.

Before you choose the company check the history

- this is what I learned from this bad experience, from the company that now says that is no 1 in the uk!!!...

There are a million of these type of companies in all types of trading. This type of behavior has been going on so long, even though the government departments responsible are aware of it and done nothing, that you can only take it as they sanction this rip-off.

There is also the problem with taking court action, you might get a judgement, but you can bet your life you wont get your money, these sort just stick their middle finger up to the courts and there is nothing further to be done. They have been so clever at arranging things that all forms of collection ie baliffs etc are completely powerless.

Connif. Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I know that I would not achieve anything by going to court as it is a limited company.

What upsets me the most is that British law lets people open , close and again open the company, take money from people, do the job and then offer 25 years of warrenty that means NOTHING. We consumers pay money and feel being ripped off, cheated....

Also the company ( Wall Rendering Solutions) is a member of FMB (Master Builders) and Home Improvement Protection. When I saw these signs on their website I got furious!!! I asked FMB and HIP which criteria did they use that WRS was able to join??? They said that they used their own ones. It looks like they did not check them properly as if you type the director's name in google you can find out all story about his past - the amount of companies he had in the past , how ofter he changed them, other bad reviews and all story in one of the papers. I just want to warn other people - please do not let this company to do the job on your house as you may regret later as I do now...

Maybe you know- is there any law or organisation that may remove the owner from being a director of this ang other companies???

Thank you

What an amazing coincidence.

Look at this new post here.

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?381798-Problem-with-renderexteriorwallcoating-s

I'm sure that they can't be related

No.

I'm sure that they can't be related because the director of Render Exterior Wall Coating was someone called Harvil Shaw - but the director of Wall Rendering Solutions is someone called Micah Shaw who is obviously someone completely different.

I'm sure that they have nothing to do with this company either - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=59235055

Because Martin Lewis has a newsletter which goes out to over 2 millions of people - and they would certainly know about it.

Our newsletter only goes out to 300,000 people - if we decided to ask them if they have heard if these companies.

Wow.

Look at this

Kenneth Whitmore paid pounds 5,200 to have his bungalow in Daventry, Northants coated in 2002 - but they missed a bit.

He got a letter from Wallcare promising to solve the problem once the weather improved. They never did.

Wallcare at that time was owned by Farnbrough Ltd, with Harvil Shaw and Nigel Shackleton- Burton as company directors.

Two years later, the coating started to fall off and Mr Whitmore complained again.

But Shaw and Shackleton-Burton had quit and the company was dissolved. The 15-year guarantee was now worthless.

Rosalind Varley of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Notts, paid Wallcare pounds 4,000 to coat her house in 2004, but after 15 months was in big trouble. "The coating has completely failed, is letting in damp and is now dropping off and we can't get them back to do repair work."

Renville Enterprises Ltd - trading as Wallcare - also offered the 15-year guarantee. The directors were Roy Western and Shackleton-Burton, but they've both quit - again - and the firm's accounts are overdue. Trevor and Denise Beacock, from West Stockwith, Doncaster, paid Wallcare pounds 5,250 for the same treatment in 2003.

This March, the coating started to peel off and Wallcare carried out some emergency repairs.

They promised to finish the job - but six month later that hasn't happened. It turns out that Wallcare Protective Masonry Coatings is a trading name used by a string of firms all run from the same office in Newcastle-Under-Lyme by Nigel Shackleton-Burton.

In fact, Shackleton-Burton has been a director of 17 different companies since 1992 - and only four of these are still active.

Western has been co-director of nine and Shaw a co-director of two - illegally because he was supposed to be serving a 15-year ban from acting as a company director.

"I thought it was a 10-year ban," he feebly explained to us. "I resigned immediately when I realised."

ASTAFFORDSHIRE Trading Standards spokesman told us: "We are very aware of the problem and the individuals are known to us. We are currently actively looking at the options available to us."

Outside his home in Wrexham, Western blamed Shackleton-Burton as the boss and sole shareholder.

"It pays a wage," he said. "You've seen my house - I live in a council house. Now look at his home."

Shackleton-Burton blamed staff shortages for the problems - but revealed that Wallcare was going to "stop trading" after running up a pounds 22,000 debt to Yellow Pages.

"We are still putting Wallcare jobs right but not as quickly as we would like to," he said.

And he told us that he wasn't that fussed about what we would write because only 10 per cent of his customers were Daily Mirror readers.

Now it's zero per cent, mate.

Hi,

I think that I owe you an update.

At the beginning of 2013 Wall Rendering Solution's team came to resolve one of the problems which is flaking render,

filling gaps where missing render was, etc.

I was very happy with the workman who did fantastic job. Thank you Les.

But, due to a bad luck, again render was washed off and a problem reappeared and again I am left with the same problem.

In addition to it I have still problems with a window sill and mess on the windows and PVC which has not been resolved.

I contacted Mr Shaw this week and was promised to have it resolved within two weeks.

Also he promised that Tracy will send me an email with the date of repairs next day.

I have not received anything until now.

We will see what Mr Shaw's plans are .....

I just wanted to share with you my thoughts:

I kept saying to Mr Shaw please come and resolve all the problems.

The quicker you do it the quicker we both forget about it all and carry on with the life.

But he does not seem to listen ,

so he needs to bear with me....

You should get an estimate from another company and write to your Mr Ignorant by recorded sending him a copy and give him a timeline in which to complete all that is outstanding saying that failure to comply will mean you get the other company to do it and send the bill to him.

You could also mention that failure to pay the bill will result in further action being taken with all it's associated extra costs.

I understand that there is a new wall-rending company on the block and that Harvil Shaw is involved with it.

I don't know yet what is the status of the old company.

I'm sure that we will find out soon

The promises continue.... I was said by Harvil Shaw that repair to my house will be carried out today and tomorrow. Nothing happened (as usual) and Harvil as well as Les do not pick up my phones.

Very Important:

I have found out that Harvil runs Renewable rendering solutions ltd trading as Wall Rendering Solutions and Green Associates Ltd t/a Green Wall Rendering. So please be carefull before you choose the company to do some jobs in your house.

Thanks for the heads up.

I think that we need to give a warning to anyone who buys any building services on the basis of a lifetime guarantee.

A life time guarantee is worthless if it is not backed by insurance.

I notice that some of Harvil's companies have claimed to provide an insurance-backed guarantee - but I have never seen any evidence that such a policy ever existed.

I think that people have simply believed it but have never asked to see the policy document or to contact the insurer to check that their is valid cover and that it will protect them in the event that the company goes out of business.

If you are getting building work done

If your work is guaranteed

Then that guarantee must be backed by insurance

You must get a copy of the policy

You must contact the insurer

You must get written confirmation from the insurer that the work on your home is covered by the insurance

If you do not do this then you will become another victim
