my husband was self employed when he took the loan out

we told this to the advisor

but we were advised that without ppi we would not get the loan.

we wrote to allaiance & leicester(santander)ten weeks ago

and have heard nothing from them

.tried to ring but once you get through all the different menus it just rings and rings.

any advice about what to do next please.

You can certainly reclaim the PPI plus Statutory interest as it was clearly mis-sold by virtue of the fact your husband was self-employed.

You will need to send them a SAR which will cost £10. From what you get back you should be able to determine what they owe you using the calculator on this site. ;)

Two threads merged...please keep to one thread for this PPI issue.

Brig is right as near as makes no difference.

The FSA says that complaints for PPI mis-selling should be dealt with and a final response issued no later than 8 weeks. If that is not adhered to then the claimant is free to escalate the matter to fos.

So with your claim, what did you send the lender?

A completed fos questionnaire and covering letter or just a letter?

Did you send it by some trackable method?

Do you know that they received it?
