Hi guys,

I just wanted to know what the law is on this? I hate entering my reg. no into a pay and display machine and was wondering if there's any law that says you have to?

I only ask, as my mother entered hers incorrectly the other day (226 instead of 227) and if they look at the images before they send out charge notices?

Regards.

Council machine or PPC?

If council then it would have to be an advertised condition of parking and be covered in the TRO to be enforceable. For a PPC then it doesn't really matter!

I am not a fan of this either - simply trying to make sure that tickets aren't handed on to other motorists when leaving the car park!

I always laugh at the ones where you just have to enter the numbers from the Reg No - in my case (11) that could apply to quite a few cars in that area so what is the point of it all?

This was the full registration number.

There are two ANPR cameras on entrance and exit of the car park, but I think it's a bit iffy entering your registration number in full, into a machine which has no certification regarding holding data securely.

And as expected, Mum got a letter through the post with a dummy charge in it. Naturally, we've not replied nor' will we be.
