Good Morning Everyone

After reviewing the Consumer Forum, I discovered that I might have a very strong case for claiming PPI charges back from Debenhams/G E Money.

I opened a Visa Card account back in 2002 and on looking through the statements (luckily I kept them all) it has an item each month described as

'Account Cover @ 150 Pence per £100 Bal'

I do not really know what this is. An analysis I did on Excel shows that I paid £773.84 for this.:?:

My questions are: -

  1. Is this something I can reclaim?
  2. If so, how do I go about claiming?
  3. What interest, if any, might I be due?

Thanks in advance.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: Providian Visa owned by Barclaycard Account **** **** **** 1459

I am writing in relation to the above payment protection (PPI) policy which i believe was mis-sold to me in relation to my visa card.

I believe you have not treated me fairly for the following reasons;

· The PPI was added without my knowledge..

· You have been punished by the Financial Services Authority for failing to treat customers fairly and I do not believe that the PPI I bought was sold in my best interest.

Unless you can prove that the policy was fair and reasonable and that I was treated fairly when I was sold the insurance, I demand a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid in relation to this policy. I also expect 8% interest to be added to each payment I have made as this is the statutory amount a court would pay.

I look forward to your full and prompt response to this letter. If this matter is not settled within eight weeks of this letter I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

This letter is in respect of the above account that was issued by Providian Credit cards.

Yours faithfully

Hi Dx thanks for the quick response. Before taking your excellent advice, is the reference to Barclay Card correct as it was a Debenhams Visa card through G E money?

Thanks

This morning I received a call from FOS to say that my complaint with MBNA had been upheld. Apparently, I made a complaint about this particular PPI claim sometime ago and the initial assessment by the FOS has upheld my complaint. Sorry for being so dim, but what does this actually mean?

money is yours

you claim is successful.

if you have a quick serch on MBNA

you'll see a couple of recent MBNA threads

whereby they produce very nice [& apparently correct] FOSRUNNING type spreadsheets

thats what you'll get back.

Hi Dx, thanks for the quick reply. I still bit unsure as the lady from the FOS said this was initial assessment and at this stage MBNA can get a review (not sure what this meant). What exactly does the FOS mean by this?

The FOS also says that nothing has been logged for Debenham's.

In relation to the Debenham's claim:

(1) I have drafted the letter as set out above.

(2) Filled in the complaint questionnaire.

(3) Started putting in the statements on to the spreadsheet.

My questions are:

(1) Do I need to send the questionnaire with the letter?

(2) Do I need to put any amounts on the letter?

(3) Was the best way to send the e.g email, recorded delivery?

Thanks again Dx for making sense of all this for me.

Hi all. Thanks for that. This might sound like I am being greedy, when do you believe I am likely to get the money?

Also, if you have the time, could you please give me advice on the questions about Debehams.

Good Morning All

At last I have manage to complete

(a) Initial letter

(b) Completed the PPI questionnaire

© Spreadsheet that works out what is due.

After discovering some more paperwork floating around my loft, I discovered that a claim of mine was rejected in 2010 as a result of a head injury suffered in 2002. I remember at the time asking if I would be covered for sickness, in particular any secondary problems I had as a result of my head injury and the sales person said YES, which was obviously a lie. Therefore, I am looking to be fully compensated for this useless PPI I took out.

Now to start the Cap One claim!

Dont want to slow you down in anyway but be aware this is a pre 2005 GE Money storecard.

All the reasons in the world why it was a missale wont be looked at.

If you look around the forums you will find they will defend by saying they were not regulated and FOS will agree.

You will be sent to the FLA who will want nothing to do with it and then perhaps be sent down the underwriter route. There are people who seem to be stuck about 3 years into these claims being batted from pillar to post by different organisations none of which want to take responsibility.

Still worth complaining as you never know what will happen in the future but just to be aware there are many many threads about pre 2005 GE Money now Santander storecards.

Hi KEN

Thanks for the message. I got the card and loan out in Nov 2005. I believe this is OK because the new guidelines came in Jan 2005. Does anyone know whether this is correct?

cgowers.

Apologies if I have miss read this thread just your initial post stated a GE Money Debenhams card taken out in 2002. The storecards were sometimes upgraded to dual store visa cards.

dx is correct 2005 is the date Santander will entertain a PPI reclaim as normal (if you have a good enough reason)

Good luck

Morning All

Received a pleasant surprise in the post yesterday, an offer for Santander to pay me money!!

The breakdown is as follows: -

Premiums £260.22

Interest £287.81

Loss of Cash £131.49

Total £679.52

From my own analysis (kept all the statements) I paid premiums of £773.00. If I accept this amount (will be able to afford xmas) could I still in due course make a complaint about the remainder of the premiums I believe I am due or if I cash the cheque, that is that?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, based on an analysis I have done on Excel. From what I understand, Santander are only offering £260.22. That is why I am asking advice whether I should chase the remainder?

Thanks

then surely if your PPI is £773 BEFORE interest,

the comp int will at least double the £773 figure!

so you're prob £1k short here?

not something i would accept

post up your SOC
