Compliance is expected to take effect from January 2013.

Some firms including airlines, have already sought to get around this by removing the itemised debit or credit card fee from the billing screen and including it in the booking fee/charge.

It has been a disgrace. Especially ryanair although they have improved things recently. Debit cards cost next to nothing to process.

That's why special offer with real airlines can be cheaper. Especially if you need luggage.

I sometimes pay my business VAT to HM Customs & Excise via Credit Card and get charged 1.4% !! which can amount to a substantial fee. They should lead by example.
