Hi

I need some help.

I noticed this morning that £21.50 had been withdrawn from my bank account as a debit card payment from Asda, this had taken me overdrawn.

I called the bank and they said that the payment was on 5th May 2012 at an asda store, but for some reason it had only come out on 16th July 2012.

I rang asda and was talking to an incredibly rude man, who just kept repeating to me that they are legally allowed 6 months to take payment of a debit card purchase and there was no more he would say. Called bank back, they said nothing they could do. But this in my bank was £7, which was all the money I had to buy food until payday at the end of the monthand now nothing. Is there anything I can do to try and get that back?

Thanks

Then you need to pay for it. Much as it is unfortunate the transaction was delayed I can't see Asda being responsible for you having insufficient funds to cover it.

If it had come out on the right day you wouldn't have had the money anyway. It's not yours to 'get back'

no but any excess charges might

had a day out several years ago wife payed on debit card - they took the payment 4 months later while we were on holliday taking the wife into the red and stuffing dinner that day

had to get parents to do an emergency payment into the account

they day out (certain house in derbyshire featured in a film) eventually stumped up the £28 overdraft fee (they also offered free ticked which were refused) but only after the threat of small claims

I think you were lucky. A larger company with a litigation team would have laughed at your threat of small claims.
