Citroen C8 Cambelt Failure

The cambelt on my 2004 Citroen C8 recently broke due to water damage. After 8 weeks in the garage and a large repair bill, I am now starting the process of contacting citroen to try to claim some of my money back. It appears that they are fully aware of the problem but have not recalled the model. The cambelt broken long before it should have.

 

I have been told that other people have succesfully claimed their costs from citroen in the past for the same problem. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has done this. Or if anyone has any advice that would be useful.

What mileage has the car done? how long have you had the car and is this the first cam belt change?

With the car 8 years old and well out of warranty, you may find that they just say no or at best give you a good will gesture.

Our car had only done 65003 miles, the manufacturers mileage interval is shown as being100,000 miles or 10 years.

If you do get anywhere with this you should only expect 35% maximum of the cost as that is the amount you have been deprived of and this will only apply if the repairs have been carried out at a Citroen dealer and that the vehicle has a full service history with them.
