Hi Folks,

I submitted a claim for miss sold PPI with Yorkshire Bank. Last week was the 8 week deadline, and yesterday I received a letter from them saying that they had been trying to contact me by telephone all week. Well I haven't changed my number nor do I have any missed calls from them. everything else that they have sent me regarding the PPI claim has come through the post.

Anyway I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they have to say. I can't understand though why they would call me rather than just send me a letter with the outcome.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? And what was the result?

Thanks

Sounds very odd.

Are you able to record your call to them?

If not at lest make full notes of the conversation.

If the 8 weeks are up and they want more time then tell them "NO" and that you will be advising fos of their tactics which will cost them a case fee from fos.

Don't let them take control of the situation.

If you do call them, make sure you follow up in writing to confirm what was said in the conversation

Thanks Ims, unfortunately I don't have away that I can record the call. I will try and make notes though and keep it as short as possible. Whatever they have to say I'd like them to put it in writing for the avoidance of any doubt.

Simply tell them that you only conduct your financial business in writing and not on the telephone.

If they are just contacting you tell you the cheque is in the post.. then no worries :)

It seems odd though. I'd have thought that they would send me the offer in the post with a form to sign and send back. All I can do is wait until the morning. I'll keep you updated as to what they say / want.

Just a quick update, I rang YB and they said that there was a query on my address and that they have sent the letter to my branch and I have to collect it from there. It seems odd as I've lived at the same place for 8 years and all the other letters that they have sent regarding the PPI and my statements go to the same address. Has this happened to anyone else?

I can't get to the bank till Thursday now so fingers crossed for a win!

Just a quick update folks. The letter at the branch was an offer letter which has been accepted. Just waiting for the payment now! :-)

Well that is a relief.. but how very bizarre. Did they say what the query was on the address ?

They sent you a letter saying they couldn't write to you becasue there was a problem with your address??? seriously what are these banks playing at that is ridiculous! Do you think this was a stalling tactic becasue they were close to the deadline??? How bizarre!

Glad you have your offer now though, at least it was good news :-)
