Wouldn't miss it for the world. People are often quick to slate this country, so it's great to see so many people showing their pride in our great nation.

In an event this size there are bound to be a few hiccups, but so far it's shaping up to be a brilliant event.

I wouldn't watch it if you paid me.

It's especially scandalous right now.

Senseless spending, privileged toffs self-congratulating, police state at the ready, bad news buried today (did you hear about academies not needing to employ qualified teachers? No? Gove released this earlier this afternoon!), sponsors getting richer and richer whilst the place all around is being drained of its lifeblood. I feel physically sick thinking about it. :(

The congratulations are for the thousands of competitors who have dedicated years of their lives to their sports, culminating in taking part in the most prestigious sporting event in the world.

There are always bad things going on in the world so it's great to see such positivity and the athletes getting their rewards for all their hard work.

This is the New York Times take on Mr Bean:

Mr. Bean's Fitting Finale

Mr. Bean just ended his segment by making a flatulent sound effect on the synthesizer. The British are taking this in a somewhat different direction than Beijing, and I have to say, I heartily approve.

Before you criticise another man you should first walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you criticise him, you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes on.

Don't get me confused with somebody knowledgeable by all those green blobs. I got most of them by making people laugh.

I am not European, I am English.

Watch out now. If you see an image of stir fried poodle you know they've cocked up the North Korean entry again.

Well, the powers that be need to take a step back, think and build on what makes society cohesive.
