Found this on the HMRC website;

If you've just become self-employed

You might have only just started working for yourself and had no income from self-employment in the last tax year. If so, leave the 'income from self-employment' box blank.

Its normally quite quick.If you have had a dwp advisor they usually fast track it for you.The form is pretty easy as a new starter,but if you get stuck with anything give them a call,I have found them to be very good-not like it was a few years ago.You wont lose anything,as the claim will run from the day you start self employment.

Well by tuesday of this week i had enough waiting for this form to arrive so rang tax credits and made a formal complaint, spoke to a manager who had then arranged for me to collect the form from hmrc in falkirk filled in and returned by post the same day.

The manager said e wasnt even sure a form had been posted to me and it could be there mistake, but didnt commit to it.

He said another pack would be sent out and that he is looking into the complaint to find out who should have sent the form out.

So i decided to ring today to see what is going on, first recorded message i got was to phone back in 8 weeks time, totally unaceptable so got put through to an advisor to find out if they had recieved my forms i had sent back.

I also had to send a letter with it stating i wanted my payments back dated to the day i asked for the claim pack, which i did was also told by the manager that the turn around time for payment was 3 weeks, this was confirmed by my friend that used to be tax credit complaint manager.

Spoke to a chap who said its not on the system and to ring this time next week to see whats happening.
