I have exactly the same problem - the plastic wore through, then the cord was against the aluminum - which quickly frayed the cord and jammed it up... I also think this is a design fault. They were running a cord against plastic without any lubricant hence it was, in my opinion, inevitable.

I stubbled upon this thread by accident & having read it I would urge everyone to keep posting to support this as I firmly believe Velux most certainly DO have a design flaw!! I have 4 Velux blinds (GGL 308) ALL of which have done exactly the same thing & it would appear it is a simple piece of plastic which breaks. If Velux want to retain a good brand name they should act responsibly and make a replacement part available to consumers either on a goodwill basis or for a nominal cost. I would welcome & encourage others to comment and lets work together to get a reasonable response from Velux. I will wait to see if there are any further comments or if others know of a practical resolution (with or without Velux) before my letter goes to them! :mad2:

Over a year later and exactly the same problem has happened to me. Noticed the cord fraid a couple of days ago and saw that the reason was the plastic had worn through and split. Lo and behold today, the blind jammed up as the cord had completely fraid through. Looking through this thread, I don't hold out much hope of getting a replacement part from velux. :(

Quick update – despite my cynicism, just telephoned Velux and they said I could have a spare part of bottom bar set with cords that they would send me. Cost £38 including VAT and postage and will be with me in a week's time. My blind was made in 2007 so I think it's had a fair innings before repair! So I don't really mind paying the money. Just glad it will be fixed.

I have the same problem with my blind, the cord has cut right through the plastic,

i have noticed that in the blind that i have in my daughter's room the same thing is in process.

are those plastic bits replaceable that the cord has cut through,

if there is a link to purchase these i would be very grateful.

Surely it can't be very expensive, its such a small piece of plastic.

thanks
