Hastings what a nightmare company!

My 6 month old Audi a3 was hit by an 88 year old driver almost 3 weeks ago. I feel Hastings have not acted at all for me. They referred my claim to Albany Assistance who 24 hours later provided a hire car but as I refused to let them take my car to Nationwide repair centre(I'm so glad I' did reading the other posts on here) they couldn't help me with my claim. Hastings confirmed this and said I would have to get the car recovered and supply them with an estimate of the repair cost. I had the car taken to a vw/Audi repair centre they have assessed the damage to be approx £7000 but possibly more if the gearbox is damaged which they won't know till the car is repaired and drivable again. If the gearbox needs replacing that will take the damage to £10k approx 50% of the cars value! As the car is almost brand new I would prefer for it to be written off but obviously it's repairable due to the value of the car. Hastings have not contacted me at all either to confirm they have received an engineers report or to say they have authorised the repairs. I have however tried to contact them on several occasions. I've explained to the person on the phone the problem who pass me from one department to another each time not passing any details to the new department so I have to go through security and explain all the problem again. On one occasion this had to be done 4 times and the last associate then hung up on me, Eventually they advised me to contact the 3rd parties insurers to see if they could help. When I spoke to them they couldn't believe I'd been told to do this they said Hastings should have dealt with it. I am still in limbo almost 3 weeks after the accident ,
