Im new to the forum as a member but have been lurking for a week trying to get some information so please forgive me for any errors.

Well where do i begin.

Myself and my husband have worked damn hard to get ourselves out of debt for over 7 years and have finally got there.

We are currently renting for the last year having moved from a property we were renting for over 7 years.

We are now in the process of buying a home through a mortgage.

We checked our credit reports before moving house last year and everything was good.

So cancelled all CRA monthly payments to minimise on none needed spending.

Move forward a year.

We got a mortgage in principle offer - great.

We went house hunting and found the perfact family home and had our offer accepted.

back to the bank to complete full application.

We applied through my husbands work for a mortgage (a bank) and we were devastated to learn we had been declined!

They told us to check credit agency Equifax.

So we did this and discovered that we had both got the most descraceful credit files.

Experian was perfect but not equifax but the bank doesnt use experian.

We were not listed on the electoral Roll, no current credits were showing, they had our current address as someone elses,

and even had loans marked against us that didnt belong to either of us!.

We got on the phone to rectify this and to say they made you feel like a criminal was an understatement.

We now have to wait 6 weeks as this was sent to their disputes team and we have to now get all our creditors to contact them with proof we live here.

Equifax was trying to blame one of the creditors with supplying false information but we have checked with everyone and no one has sent the wrong details, Im so mad!!

What makes it worse on a guilt trip level is the lovely couple who we were buying off have now agreed to take it off the market as they want us to buy it

and are willing to wait till we sort everything out!

Is it right we should leave them hanging on or tell them to let it go to someone else???

We have made 25 phone calls between us to Equifax's premium rate number and each time waited approx 10 mins to get through and i cant wait to see the phone bill.

Do you think i should try and claim this back from them???

What a complete nightmare after spending years righting our credit histories.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Good morning,

DX100 has asked me to see if I can help.

Point 1. If you phone Equifax you will only

speak to a telephone jockey with no authority

to do any thing.

The course of action to start is place a notice

of dispute on the equifax entries asap in writting

addressed to the Data Controller send recorded

delivery.

What are the actual entries on your files I'll need

the information to be able to advise full, you can

PM me the third parties information or scan and

post up the files by pm. (all data will be deleted when

we have sorted this out.)

You will need also to contact all the ''bogus'' creditors

who have placed entries and any DCAs that have

done so, I can draft letters for you then you can

add the details.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

As to Bangs! ''advice'' I my experience major lenders vary

their use of CRAs some use a different agency for different

credit products some will use a combination of the 3 main

agencies.

I suggest you also check Noddle (Call Credit) this is a free

site.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

We had a lot ofproblems with both Equifax and Experian which was due to GE Money having us down as for 2 months in arrears. It wasn't correct and Ge oney eventually agreed they were wrong. But the Equifax and Experian would not change our credit records. Someone on CAG recommended contacting ICO - The Information Commissioner's Office - we contacted them and they took our case and both had to amend there records. It worked for us maybe thats ab avenue you could go down.
