Hi members i recently injured my knee at work and as a result had to have 8 days off

my line manager phoned me a day afer and told me sarcasticly that if it were a works injury i would have to log it in the book within 3 days. I said to him i will try and get into work to sign the book. Unfortunatly i completly forgot about it with going back and forth to the doctors and having to try and get my self fit for work.

Now they want to disipline me for having the time off becuase it wasnt classed as logged in the accident book

can any one advise

i've been back to work around 3 weeks now

Rubbish, they could have filled the book in for you and asked you to sign it once you were back.

Did they report the injury under the RIDDOR rules? As you were off for over 4 days due to an accident at work?

I don't think so, its advisable that the accident is logged straight away but it is the most senior person on duty's responsibility to ensure that it is filled in, not the injured person.

Hi

If they are to use you not logging the accident in the accident book then i would suggest writing to the company recorded delivery always keep a paper trail and request the following:

* Disciplinary and Grievance Policy/Procedure. (you want both not whats in a staff/employee handbook as this may be a shortened version you want the full unedited versions of both the Policy and Procedure).

* Health& Safety Policy/Procedure.

* Absent from Work Policy/Procedure.

* Accidents at Work Policy/Procedure.

* Accident Book Policy/Procedure.
