I've just had a letter this morning from Lowell Portfolio stating they are passing their debt to Fredrickson's for collection. I can't wait as this is the seventh agency that has tried to collect it.

It stems from years ago when I was persuaded on the phone by 3 Mobile to extend my contract at the "incredible rate" of £10 per month as I was a "preferential" customer. No paperwork was issued but when I decided to cancel three months later, they wanted £206 in cancellation fees. Suddenly the special £10 a month was a promotional discounted rate and the full rate would apply as I was cancelling. I tell every collection agency I have no intention of paying, offering £70 (£10 a month for seven months that was remaining on the contract). I want them to sue me in the County Court so I can get this off my plate as avoiding the incessant telephone calls and letters are an annoyance. Aside from caving in and paying, is there no way to stop these creeps? In their eyes, they are right and stuff what anyone else may say.....

How many years ago? If no acknowledgment of liability or payment has been made in 6 years, then it will be statute barred.

I love their LinkedIn page, especially the line "We are pleased to announce that Fredrickson International has been shortlisted for the Credit Today ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ Award. We continue to invest significantly in our systems, processes and staff training - this has enabled us to attain the ISO9001 certification.."

Quite true. It makes you wonder why Credit Today feels the need to hire a comedian for their annual event.

Before you criticise another man you should first walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you criticise him, you'll be a mile away and he won't have any shoes on.

Don't get me confused with somebody knowledgeable by all those green blobs. I got most of them by making people laugh.

I am not European, I am English.

Credit Today make these people pay heavily for their 'inclusion' in these meaningless 'industry specific' awards.

I doubt whether the Credit Today readership extends beyond the industry itself, I was one of the first to stumble on the horrible online magazine and couldn't believe how biased it is. The quality of writing is very poor and the 'house style' is very primitive.

Dear CAG team sorry for "hi-Jacking" this thread but it is related to the above, My husband received the same 2 generic letters as the above last week and i would like to send them a letter asking for a copy of the original credit agreement so if someone could send me the link to the template i would be grateful, i sometimes find it hard to negotiate my way round here?

It seems my husband may have had some debt probably with his former wife many years ago and instead of confiding in me tried to "sort" it his way by having contact with the DCA's and trying to pay some off, the debt seems to have been initially with Lloyds TSB then passed to RBS it is now with Fredricksons, the thing is he never even knew what it was for and as i said why are you paying for something you have no knowledge of?...his answer i panicked at the threats etc, this is totally unacceptable, If i am to help him sort it i need to know what it is and when it started?

Hope someone can help

Regards xTLCx

The letter is so vague as to be a total fishing expedition, my best advice is to ignore it completely.

You will only be playing into their hands if you reply in any way, if you ask me?
