Sorry guys if this query has been posted before, haven't had time to check through all other posts yet.

Basically I work 3 consecutive night shifts a week in a residential care home. My employer expects me to undertake a day long training/mandatory Health & Safety course (9am til 3pm, not including travel to and from the training venue) in between finishing a night shift on the training day its self and starting another night shift that evening. Is this allowed?

I've seen the basic rules of the Working Time Directive, but they're quite vague, and it does appear to include exceptions to the rule where minimum rest time between shifts is concerned. I'm not sure if Training days are considered exceptions to that rule.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Apologies if I don't respond or thank quickly enough.
