Hi all,

Hoping for some help please..

I needed to be dropped off a couple of weeks ago and was driving. I pulled into a bus lane for absolutely no more than 25 seconds, no buses around.

As I was walking round the back of the car, I spotted one of these enforcement cars (no signs saying recording) just the flashy camera antenna turing towards the car. I jumped in front of the number plate and thought I had saved the day.

Yesterday a fine dropped through the door for £65.

Now I agree and know I should not have parked in the bus lane area, but for under 30 seconds? Incidentally I missed the number plate by 1 second in the picture so am gutted about that.

Furthermore how can it be illegal for me to use my mobile in the car, but legal for the traffic enforcement vehicle to get a perfect picture of my car in the bus lane whilst he was driving in slow moving traffic? Surely this is unsafe, what would happen if he drove into the car in front whilst taking the picture?

It must be a joystick and a monitor of some description and surely unsafe.

I will naturally appeal anyway, but if anyone can help me with anything specific I would be grateful....

Does this mean you were dropped off and then changed drivers? Boarding and alighting is a permitted exemption in a bus lane

Sorry yes I was driving, left engine running Mrs run round front, me run round back job done in under 30 seconds. The photo does not demonstrate this though as only sees me walking round the back of car..

If we could have got away with just dropping me off, she really will kill me - thanks for quick prompt

Appeal on the grounds that the contravention did not occur, that there is a permitted boarding/alighting exemption to enable a person to get in or out of the vehicle, that this was done with minimum delay and the vehicle departed immediately afterward.

Can you give us the location so we can check on street view to double check?
