Not sure what to do about this one..........

i live in a residential road with no restrictions. The other day i parked adjacent to a dropped footway (all cars in rd have parked there for years). To my amazement i walked to my car and found a ticket neatly placed on my windscreen under contravention code 27.

Not only can i NOT find code 27 under the road traffic act the council tell me they have only just enforced it.

Living only 20 yards from the location in question should the council not inform local residents, or make drivers aware of this restriction ?

I need to appeal today so any advice hugely appreciated !!

Just found it by googling "parking code 27".

Apparently it is a comparatively new regulation [July 2004] which makes it an offence to park opposite a dropped pavement and applies to London only. Have not

been able to locate the original wording which is what you will need to contest

the ticket.
