I purchased a bag which cost £40 . It has worn very badly - when it rains it absorbs the water and has left black marks all over the bag and looks very distressed - very different from the smooth finish when I purchased it. When i retuned to store for a refund or exchange I did not have a receipt but I guessed it was about 6 months old. They would only offer me £20 cash as a goodwill gesture. I would have preferred a credit note for the whole amount. I argued that it is a fault with the bag and even though I did not have a receipt it is an item they still stock. I have since managed to find my receipt and it just under a year old. Taking into consideration I rotate my bags it has probably had only had about three months of use. Any advice please

.

Have you gone back to store with your receipt since you found it?

With no proof of purchase (not necessarily a receipt, but something like a debit/credit card statement), a goodwill gesture is about the best you could expect really, as they can't say for sure you did even buy the bag from them or not.
