Hi my name is jim,

a few years ago i took out a loan from natwest who after several months asked me to call in as i was due a review

Not knowing what it was i called in and to my suprise i was offered another loan to consolidate all my debts which as i was earning

i said yes the loan was for £ 25,000 of which i recieved around £1,2000 and the rest was deducted for my previous loan,

.

I also had a £5000 loan from alliance and Leicster which with interest and PPi amounted to £11000, But i had no trouble payin them.

I also had a credit card with natwest and we had purchased a new suite on buy now pay later.

My wife also had a couple of catalouges which we paid regulary

Then My wife was suddenly taken ill after collapsing at work,

she recieved hospital treatment and was discharged after a week with something they couldnt explain,

I told her not to go back to work as i thought it was too much for her.

She remained at home for two years and was quite well after this time

she said she was sorted and wanted to go back to work,

she contacted her old employer who was glad to have her back,

after 6 weeks at work i got a phone call to say she had collapsed and was unconcious.

met the ambulance at the hospital,

she came round three days later and they diagnosed epilepsy,

we went home and she collapsed several times,

each time back to hospital

The last time she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease,

Meanwhile i continued to work and pay the bills until my wife got to the stage where she could not Manage

so i took the decision to become her fulltime carer,

I claimed on the ppi with a&l who to my surprise told me i could only claim for 12Months as it was not me that was ill.

I visited CAB who contacted my creditors on my behalf and worked out a payment plan which i have kept to,

after the ppi was stopped i began paying A&l £17 per month

They then changed to Santander who Handed me over to a company called rockwell,

who Harrassed me every so often to up my payment, which last time i did to £20 per month.

As the cost of everything is going up ie electricity which i am at present feeding a Prepayment meter to the tune of £30 per week and £8 per week Gas

i am struggling to keep up with the Plan as we are on Benifits,

My own health is detioriating i suffer with Athritis.

A bad Back and i am recieving treatment for Depression,

There is no way my wife will ever Get well and return to work which means that neither will i,

i am 56 years old and am at my wits end as to whats going to happen in the end,

i will be payin these Debts till the day i or we die.

Hi and welcome to CAG

As you are on benefits, you are getting the MINIMUM the government say you need to live on.

In the library (top left) are some letters and expenditure forms to work out what you can afford.

Do you know if there are any charges that you may be able to reclaim?

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor

firstly i think you best bet is to SAR everyone you are paying

i bet there is PPI to reclaim and LOADS of £12 charges on ALL of the above accounts.

next would be to check your CRA file.

any debt that does NOT show [you and your wifes file too]

consider stopping any payments.

the most you should paying ANYONE other than ctax/rent/mortage is £!PCM

you are on benefits - end off.

keep us informed.

Hi Thanks for the reply, Im not sure if there are any charges i can claim back, The Natwest loan i took out is the biggest debt, also i told natwest what my situation was but they carried on taking the monthly payments out of my current account until my overdraft limit was reached which added another £1500 debt onto me,
