We signed a contract for Forbes Douglas claims management company to reclaim ppi for us.

When we received their reply specifying a sum of money due to us,

we phoned and asked for a breakdown of this amount as this was not a figure we were expecting.

However no one was available to help us so we had to leave a message,

we did this twice.

When no return phonecall was received, we thought if they couldn’t answer a phone call how efficient would they be at returning any money due to us and decided not to proceed with the ppi claim.

Now we have received an invoice for £450 for 3 hours work on our case which they say is not unreasonable and must be paid immediately

or they will start legal proceedings which they say they will certainly win.

We can either pay in full or in 5 instalments including interest and administration charge.

Has anyone any advice?

Everybody BEWARE of Forbes Douglas.

My brother was approached by Forbes Douglas who informed him that he was owed nearly £3000 from a PPI

that they acted as brokers for the policy when a mortgage was set up .

After receiving a letter, confirmation was made by telephone by Forbes Douglas which confirmed a 'no win no fee' approach.

My brother sanctioned a further "in depth" investigation into what amount was due.

The figure came back as nearly £7000.

My brother completed their authorisation form to persue the claim and within a very short period my brother was informed that the PPI policy had in fact been repaid

(some in-depth investigation) and a bill was attached for nearly £700.00!.

Needless to say my brother could get no further contact from Forbes Douglas and a summons soon followed which has been defended.

In summary it appears that this Company contacts potential clients (victims)

and claims charges irrespective of any actual work carried out .

It then acts aggressively to obtain payments that are probably not due to it.

My advice is to defend any claim made against you via written communication

(you will have a written record) and then the Courts Service if it goes that far.

I received a letter from forbes douglas on 28 oct. I filled in a form then sent it back to allow them to start chasing them up. I now have received further letters from them with more forms to sign regarding ppi's from a few different companies. I haven't signed these ones.

Should i send a letter back saying stop. I have read there terms and conditions and it says if i dont carry through, they can charge me but there wrre no t&,c's with the original letter

Do not use claims companies to reclaim your PPI. They will do nothing for you that you cannot do yourself

Forbes Douglas are a nasty, predatory bunch of bullies, avoid them like the plague!

Unfortunately, if like me, you are ready these pages then you probably have had dealings with them and been stung.

We had some issues with FB, in as much as they obtained CCJ's against us before we really knew what was going on, however, we recently taken them to court and won on one count. As a result, they are now throwing their toys out of their pram and threatening us with allsorts of action.

Companies like Forbes Douglas really need to be exposed to the Ministry of Justice, and I shall be doing this tomorrow, as well as preparing a defence against their latest attack.

You really should defend against FB through the courts, enabling precedent database to build up, and hopefully let the courts become aware exactly how nasty this company is.

One thing I have noticed is that the name Aaron Playle appears on EVERY piece of documentation, suggesting they are much smaller company than they would like you to think.

I urge you all to fight Forbes Douglas all the way, and complain about them to the relevent bodies.
