Hi,

My wife has a capital one mastercard and uses paperless billing but about 2 months ago she noticed she was paying PPI on the account and did not Know about it as she would just look at the amount owed and pay it with out checking here statement (naughty).

So she phoned up to cancel the PPI only to find out she has been paying it for about 5 years and she never asked for it but because its on the statements they say nothing she can do even though she never signed anything for it or asked for it it was just something cap 1 put onto the account (due to a possible phone call they made about 5 years ago) as we never us PPI as always find it a waste of time.

Could she have a case to reclaim her PPI even though capital one say they had a look at it and they said no way

Capital One are very quick to say that people DID ask for it.. even when faced with overwhelming proof that it was never requested.

Do you have all your wife's statements? If not, then you need to send a subject access request to Capone to ask for them.. it will cost you £10.00 and they have 40 calendar days to comply with the request.

Once you have these, you start compiling a spreadsheet which I have attached below.

You will need to download the PPI complaint from from the FOS website, complete that as well and along with a covering letter send the spreadsheet, complaint form to Capone.

If they still refuse to refund then you will need to then submit your claim to the FOS.

Please, please, do not telephone Capone about this any more.. WRITE and do keep copies of everything and send any mail to them by recorded post.
