Would anyone know whats the score on "in house" security persons operating CCTV, as in monitoring and recording both inside store and outside public area, pavements/roads? Do they need cctv sia badge?

Its on tha SIA website mate :-)

A Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence is required when manned guarding activities are carried out through the use of closed circuit television equipment to:

monitor the activities of a member of the public in a public or private place; or

identify a particular person.

This includes the use of CCTV in these cases to record images that are viewed on non-CCTV equipment, but excludes the use of CCTV solely to identify a trespasser or protect property.

A Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence is required only if your services are supplied for the purposes of or in connection with any contract to a consumer.

Cheers wayne, I did read the SIA site and one or two other places, I guess 3 hours sleep makes things clear (a lot) when you cant sleep for 3 days at a time!

So would say a tesco's be a public place (inside) Also I read if alls they are doing is trying to identify a tea leaf or monitoring property then its ok.. Hmm...

Hope it is unlicensed activity, a certain fat overweight obese balding fat ex bully boy bouncer who cannot get a license due to being a fat sweaty bully boy is breakin de law by operating a recordable cctv system.. fat cocky git..

FAT DONT MEAN HARD! never has never will do either!

Raar rant over...

(thanks for taking the time to reply! just made my morning feel like its going to go a whole lot better!)
