Cabot & Next Retail

Hi

Hoping someone can advise me on what to do next - I am being hounded by Cabot financial for a debt they alledge i owe in respect of Next Retail - i received a demand letter from Ruthbridge back in April this year stating the same debt amount/ref numbers and the letter stated the debt was for a store card - something which i have never had. In September Cabot wrote to me saying that they had now 'bought' the debt and that i need to make immediate payments to avoid further action - now i am receiving phone calls and text messages every day I intend to send a harrassment by telephone letter but wondered what else i should do? Should I send a CCA request or as I don't actually know what the debt is for - is there a different request i need to make?

Hi

I wouldn't send the CCA request. In my opinion, it is like telling the creditor that you are the person they are looking for.

 

I think a short snotty letter to cabot telling them that this is not your debt, never was your debt and if they continue to chase you for this debt, you will report them for harassment.

 

In the meantime, check your credit file. Some lowlife may have put a financial association next to your name on there.
