Arranged insurance for a car I was buying on ebay.

To cut a long story short, sale fell through. Seller had completely mis-described car, it didnt have the features advertised etc so I refused to continue with the sale.

Anyway, I find out now that Swinton want £50 admin fee to cancel the insurance. I always thought it was free to cancel within 14 day cooling off anyway? (assuming you havent claimed)

Or failing that, since I've not yet signed the credit agreement, only paid £15 deposit, can I reject this? Or are they then likely to come and chase me for the full amount in any case?

What you will be charged if you cancel your insurance

1) Within the 'cooling off' period

If you cancel your insurance, before the end of the 'cooling off' period, you will be charged by the insurer for the service they have provided up to the point of cancellation. We will also make a cancellation charge of £50. Our New Policy Inception or Policy Renewal service charge and any credit card handling charge made for arranging your insurance will not be refunded.
