Hi

Have recently joined this site due to Wescot ignoring my request for futher information on an alledged outstanding debt to lloyds TSB. After getting the usual we will investigate and stop all actions letter (which they didn't do) and continued to chase through other parties. I got a letter from Nelsons offering a 50% discount I sent an email to Wescot contact us telling them they were in breach under the CPUTR, they have now replied by email, (rather quicker than the previous 10 months before) with the following:

"

Thank you for your recent communication.

In order for us to continue with your enquiry please confirm your last address including date of vacation and your date of birth.

The above details are required as a response was not received when contacting you at the original address on the account. We therefore require confirmation that you resided at the original billing address before we are able to disclose any further details. This is purely for security purposes and to prevent a breach of Data Protection.

Our offices are open from Monday-Friday 8.00am to 9.00pm, Saturday 8.00am to 4.00pm our contact number is 01482 590500

We look forward to hearing from you within the next 14 days."

What do I do next?

Thanks for any advice you are able to provide.

Here we go again Westclots asking people to pay a debt then asking them to confirm address when challenged think they should be sure that you are the debtor before writing demanding payment etc. Report these twits to everyone you can especially OFT as against their guide lines as in s2.8.a of OFT664

Actually, I think I might be right in saying that as the correspondence from the OP was emailed, then they of course don't want to fall foul of the DPA, it has zero to do with anyone security....quite why they like to say it is is anyone guess?

This is after all Wetcloths and their tame in house sols nelson guest and [email protected], an offer of 50% discount means that this account is full of reclaimable charges, fees, or PPI.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thanks for your comments everyone. I have also sent a hard copy to them (unsigned) as well, perhaps I should have sent some holiday snaps as well seeing as they wanted to know about my vacation:-). Anyway a letter to Nelsons now as well I think about Data Protection Act and account in dispute. Will keep you posted.
