SAR and postal order returned

Hello

 

I recently sent a SAR letter to the HFC bank and the letter and postal order have been returned with a letter saying i must resubmit my full request with the following additional information:

 

Personal Information- details of any previous address history

Proof if ID

Orginal letter to be signed

 

The address i am living at has never been made available to this bank so they will not have any record of it, all recent correspondence about this debt has come from 1st Credit.

 

If the signature is crossed, is there any additional harm in providing the addresses and a copy of a passport?

A Data controller can refuse a request if they are not satisfied that the person requesting the data is the subject entitled.

 

It is rare for a request to be returned,but it does happen and quite often because the subject has either changed address or else the application is non specific.

 

You need to send something with proof of name and address not dated longer than 8 weeks-so a utility bill will do for proof of address and a copy of passport or drivers licence for name.

You have no obligation to provide a sig.

You can ask them to send the docs to a local branch nominated by you to pick up there.

Lloyds will often suggest this.

Thank you, it is for my partner and he did include the account number but i guess they need more proof. We do not have any bills in his name, would a bank statement be ok?

Yes anything that shows address and is not too old should do the job.

Tell them you will collect it from the bank as well, where you will be happy to show proof of ID.
