the employer will normally pay for it as its reasonable adjustments

if he leaves the company, then he can negotiate to keep it with his employer

Thanks for reply, but who will legally own it, from what you say it will be up to the employer to say if my dad can keep the chair that he requested and will be for his disability.

Hello there. Does your Dad want to leave the chair at work or move it to somewhere else please? I'm a bit confused. My take on it is if the employer has bought the chair it could belong to them, but I may have misunderstood.

Did your Dad contribute to the cost of the chair?

My best, HB

Legally, the employer owns it - unless of course your father paid for it himself.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind. Sometimes my advice is not what people necesserily want to hear, but I will advise on facts as I know them - although it may not be what a person wants to hear it helps to know where you stand. Advice on the internet should never be a substitute for advice from your own legal professional with full knowledge of your individual case.

A hearing aid is an adjustment therefore why would the employer want to keep it as it would only be useful for the employee that needs that adjustment therefore it follows that any other specialised adjustments for other employee would be the same ie that equipment would only be useful for them and the employer to keep regardless of who purchased it.
