Hi all,

last month Vanquis took my wifes credit card payment twice, she pays by DD. She phoned and gave them hell so they returned one of the payments.

This month she got a call from them saying that they had tried to take this months payment but the bank had refused to honour it saying their was not enough funds in the account ( definately not true).

She rang the bank who said that Vanquis hadnt attempted to take any payment this month.

Today her monthly bank statement has arrived. Because the statement is mid-month to mid-month, it clearly shows last months two payments removed and one credited back to her account.

 

But there is nothing about any attempt to take a payment, or it being refused this month.

 

Vanquis have charged her £24 for a failed DD attempt that according to her bank statement, never happened.

Whats the best way to approach this other than her giving them hell and probably getting nowhere?

Crikey, they are getting desperate aren't they? If she doesn't want to phone, have you got their email address or better still send them a letter by recorded delivery headed Serious Complaint, obviously their staff are incompetent and this should be pointed out to them and the charge returned immediately!
