    • Unless their policy is just to run the clock out and not ask for an extension again. I'd not be surprised, if a new PM completely ignored parliament and the 48 per cent who voted remain, just to hold their party together
    • Well, it's isn't a premium car, it's a Golf TDI in pretty good condition with 100k on the clock. I just thought I'd ask the question, but I accept that there's probably nothing that can be done in this case.
    • Change the rules now, and set a precedent for ever.
    • I think it is too difficult for any party leader to negotiate withdrawal from the EU on their own. It will always be a cross party task, unless there is a General Election and the country gave the the Tories a big majority. But at the moment that is very unlikely.
    • Can anyone help me. I am stuffed.    PayPal allowed me to deposit £4.4k into a gambling website when I had no cash in my bank.    It was the final straw and so I came clean with the wife and joined GA.    I didn't even think to search on the internet, despite how wrong Paypal's actions seemed to me.   This was a few weeks ago and I suffer with depression and anxiety, so all of this just crushed me.   I wake up every day and literally beat myself up.   After a lot of intervention and love I am able to lift my head out of the sand and address what has happened.    Here's the issue:  My wife was getting texts from Nationwide daily saying '£1,700 is due out of your account tomorrow' and so she found the money, and transferred it in.    We took on debt of £3k and Paypal have managed to get their hands on c£4k.    My Paypal balance is now -£420.   I initially posted this in the wrong place and dx kindly offered some advice.    yes I would get all the payments back from NW under chargeback and remove that account as a payment method to PP as well as you say via CPA..   I am not embarrassed to say that I don't understand how this works and the call to the bank is filling me with dread.    What do I need to say to the bank when requesting a charge back? Does this fall under unauthorised transactions?   PayPal aren't letting me remove the bank as a payment method atm.   Trying to not get my hopes up as this would be so huge for me and my family.    Truly grateful for any help.    Pierre

    • This is a bit of a lengthy one but I’ll summerise best as possible.

THIS IS HOW THE PHONECALL WENT

I was contacted by future comms by phone, they stated that they could beat any phone contract I have , (I am a limited company but just myself that needs a business phone and I am the only worker)
I told future comms my deal, £110 per month with a phone and a virtual landline, they confirmed that they could beat that, £90 per month with a phone , virtual landline  they also confirmed they would pay Vodafone (previous provider) the termination fee. As I am in business, naturally I was open to making a deal. So we proceeded.
Future comms then revealed that the contract would be with PLAN.COM and the airtime would be provided by 02, I instantly told them that this would break the deal as I have poor 02 signal in the house where I live as my partner is on 02 and constantly complaining about bad signal
the salesman assured me he would send a signal booster box out with the phone so I would have perfect signal.
      so far so good.....
i then explained this is the only mobile phone I use for business and pleasure, so therefore I didn’t want any disconnection time in the slightest between the switchover from Vodafone to 02
the salesman then confirmed that the existing phone would only be disconnected once the new phone was switched on.
      so far so good....

    • The FSA has announced large fines against DB UK Bank Limited (trading as DB Mortgages) - DeutscheBank and also against Redstone for their unfair treatment of their customers.
Please see the links below for summaries and full details from the FSA website.
It is now completely clear that any arrears charges which exceed actual administrative costs are unfair and therefore unlawful.
Furthemore, irresponsible lending practices are also unfair and unlawful.
Additionally there are other unfair practices including unarranged counsellor visits - even if they have been attempted.
You are entitled to refuse counsellor visits and not incur any charges.
Any charges for counsellor visits must not seek to make profits. The cost of the visits must be passed on to you at cost price.
We are hearing stories of people being charged for counsellor visits for which there is no evidence that they were even attempted.
It is clear that some mortgage lenders are trying to cheat you out of your money.
You should ascertain how much has been taken from you and claim it back. The chances of winning are better than 90%. It is highly likely that the lender will attempt to avoid court action and offer you back your money.
However, you should ensure that you receive a proper rate of interest and this means that you should be seeking at least restitutionary damages - which would be much higher than the statutory 8%.
Furthermore, you should assess whether the paying of demands for unlawful excessive charges has also out you further into arrears and if this has caused you further penalties in terms of extra interest or any other prejudice. This should be claimed as well.
If excessive unlawful charges have resulted in your credit file being affected, then you should take this into account also when working out exactly what you want by way of remedy from the lender.
You should consult others on these forums when considering any offer.
You must not make any complaint through the Ombudsman. your time will be wasted, you will wait up to 2 yrs and there will be a minimal 8% award of interest and no account will be taken of any other damage you have suffered.
You must make your complaint through the County Court for a rapid and effective remedy.

sadly the comment left here typifies the discrimination those face with mental health problems are facing in applying for work.the real world.

And what of the mentally ill?

Physically they may be OK but do you really want dangerous and mad people working in sensitive environments just because the tests show they can pick a phone up or carry a sack of cement.

Maybe once one or two of these people have run amok in the workplace it might make ministers realise that its not just a wheelchair that makes people disabled.

it's been quite a while since i had the asessment to see if i was too ill to work.

asessing someone on wether that can pick up certain things...how do they walk...can they prepare a meal...can they dress themselves...can they get in/out of bed...can they wash themseves...none of it applies to mental illnesses.

at the time of the asessment i had had it was due to depression, self-harm, anxiety and anorexia.

could i prepare a meal...yes but anorexia obviously meant that i didn't.

could i wash myself, get in/out of bed, dress myself...yes but depression [and other mental illnesses] often mean you don't do those things cause you don't care about yourself.

could i walk, pick up stuff...of course i could...the only physical issues i had were mainly caused by the anorexia....such as fainting and being weak.

i went to a&e loads of times cause i fainted/collapsed and self-harm...they just send you home.

they even said i wasn't ill enough for DLA because i hadn't been admitted to the psych' ward!

people with ED's are only admitted to the psych' ward if thier weight is do low that they are force-fed...so it's not a common thing.

not to mention the fact i would have done anything to stay out of the ward. that's the last place i wanted to be!

like you said you don't have to be in a wheelchair to be disabled.

they need a separate set of questions for mental illnesses.

Even if they didn't, I found that most of the questions for DLA could be applied to mental health.

Despite the Government campaign to label many disabled people as workshy, I think even PR man Cameron will have a job selling cancer patients with 'more than 6 months to live' as skivers. But then the Government's done a pretty good job labeling nurses, care workers and teachers as overpaid money-grabbers, so anything's possible.

I have just got DLA and ESA support group, yes I can cook for myself, wash myself, dress ect but it takes me hours to recover after! Plus being with large amounts of people is a danger for me...infection danger and physical danger! One nudge or bump to my abdomen could mean serious injury problems!

Don,t lose heart. I also got turned down the first time. I sent in more medical evidence and a long letter about their findings. The out come was a ATOS home visit and I won. I only received the mobility side, so I,m appealing for carers allowance. What does not stack up on their side is they agree i,m a cripple, but cant seem to see I need help with daily tasks. I think the DWP just throw hurdles at people to see if they stumble and back down.

It is truly appalling to come accross ill-informed; invidious and self-serving politicians, who little understand the concept of disability - let alone poverty. I have always worked and studied my way through life, until very recent times, and often taken jobs well below my skill set because I was over-qualified for some jobs here in the UK. I am currently pursuing a career in writing as an extremely gifted author, despite suffering long-term clinical depression; social anxiety and PTSD - I don't allow these terms of 'disability' to define me however, because of the holistic views I have regarding what constitutes a full-person and their individual capabilities.

We all have one disability of kind or another; regardless of what socioeconomic background someone is from. Who is deserving of social welfare assistance from time to time, is most definitely the responsibility of the state who have an allocated budget specifically for those out of work, for whatever reason. It is shocking how much foreign aid they pour into global anti-terrorist projects - buying political 'peace' because they have slashed their own military services, as well as lining their own pockets in the humungous tax-relief of their paid-for expenses claims.

In addition, what about the foreign penniless women, who come to live over here because they are married to wealthy partners - are they scroungers too?. I have met a few in my time, and they do not work, just live off their partner as well as claim child benefits. I could easily amass a huge list of what 'type' of scroungers that politicians readily refer to as 'work-shy'. I had forgotten to mention over-paid celebrities/footballers who deliver nothing more than the goods they are paid, and those that simply inherit an existence because the notion of work too much a a reality shock!.
