Hi all

I hope this is as simple as I think.

After several months of going backwards and forwards to my local bike repair shop the owner has finally admitted they have lost my bike that I took in for repair.

However, he said that as it's an old bike and not worth much it's just tuff luck.

Surely, they have to provide some sort of replacement or funds towards a new one ?

Cheers for any advice.

Hi AJ

I think you might have to take them to the small claims court. It was your property, they lost it, if it had no value why didn't they say they couldn't repair it or it's not worth repairing.

Did you pay any deposit for the repair?

It might be worth contacting Consumer Direct to get their take on it.

The first thing they should have to do is report the loss to the police.

Whether or not the police find the time to investigate, the incident is then on record for further reference or action. If they fail to report the loss, deliver your own report.

If the thing was stolen, the thief is the culprit.
