hello everyone:)

i'm new here. i've been reading this site for a few days - it's really helpful with a lot of information.

i've just terminated my contract with DMC as I thought I could start doing my own dmp and don't pay them that monthly fee.

i've been with them since december last year.

i've got monthly statements from them showing how much money was going where.

most of my creditors are payday loans, i've got one account with overdraft (Lloyds) and two credit cards (Lloyds and Capital One), and one loan with Oakam.

all of my accounts (except capital one) have been passed do DCAs.

I don't know how to start again with my creditors?

My point is: I wanted to try negotiate with my creditors and ask them to freeze interests on my accounts and take my offer with reduced payments.

In total I've got about £6k, I don't know the balances as I just kept receiving letters with amounts still going up and up.

Also I think I made a mistake while on dmp.

I had to take another payday loan - paid once but I wont be able to pay it this month. I din't inform about that my DMC.

Thank you Guys for running this forum. I will really appreciate any advice and help from you.

Thank you for your advice.

I'm a bit scared as I'm not a British Citizen and English is only my learnt language so dealing in that specific area will be really challenging for me. But I decided to have a go a try.

By the way: is it important that I have nothing in here, I mean no house, car etc. I rent privately furnished double bedroom.

Thank you once again.

Hello Gabi,

There are a few template letters to get you started in the CAG library. Will come back with the link later on. But if you need help with drafting letters, there will always be someone around to help you :)

As you have no assets, home, personal possessions, then they are not going to benefit from any sword rattling... which some DCAs are prone to.

I think your first plan should be to have a file for each creditor in order to keep on top of all the paperwork you are likely to generate.

You should keep all communication between you and your creditors to writing that way you cant be intimidated into paying any one creditor more than you can afford and there will be no misunderstanding about what is said as it will be in print.

Do you have a budget sheet - Income and Expenditure form ? I have attached one for you below just in case you dont. But you can also find one on National Debtline website.

You need to sort out your priority payments ie rent, utilities, council tax, food, travel. Then what is left over should be divided between any creditor balance pro rata to your disposable income.

Hi Gabi,

I think I responded to your post on another thread last night - great to see you've now got your own thread and it's good to see you know what you're currently paying.

As I said yesterday, the Income and Expenditure form is critical. The one you completed previously was obviously not accurate enough or you wouldn't have needed another pay day loan. Think hard as you fill in this one, and try to think what it was that made you need that last loan, then ensure you compensate for this in your new one.

I'm not sure if this is what sequenci advises - he is an expert so if there's a conflict, go with his advice! I'd work out your pro rata payments ensuring that you have enough to live on and that you will be able to sustain these payments AND your lifestyle without needing to take out any more loans. Then write to the creditors explaining there has been a change of circumstances and now you can offer £xxxxxx per month. If, once you've done you're IE sheet you need help wording the letter to incorporate freezing of interest and charges, let me know and I'd be more than happy to write one for you. It's a case of combining several of the template letters in the library.

After that you wait for them to respond and take it from there, depending what they say.

Any questions at all just ask away - we're always around to help, so you should never have to wait long for an answer.

Good luck!

Tingy

Thank you Tingy so much for your advice and help. I thought I was the only one having this sort of problems till I found this site.

I appreciate your help, knowledge and experience so much!!!!!

My concern was if I can just start doing my own dmp.I was told by my Debt Management Company I can have serious problems with creditors.

But I just dont wont to pay £45 a month as a fee!!!!

I've got another question: my payment is due 16th July - I've already cancelled SO for my DMC on the day I terminated my contract with them.

Shall I pay to all of my creditors as it was with DMC?

What sort of time I have to send new I&E form to each of them?Which letter should be as the first one?Shall I inform my creditors that from now on I will be dealing with my accounts? As I said almost all of my accounts are with DCAgencies.where should I write? to the original creditor?or to DCA?what about getting CCA?

thank you so much for helping me

Thank you CitizenB for your help and advice. I'm starting this over the weekend as I will have a bit of free time to sit and think.

I really appreciate your experience and knowledge. I've been reading your posts on this site for about one week.

thank you so much.

I will keep you updated.

Hey, slow down! So many questions. Initially just continue exactly as you have been for a while. DMC told you that so you would stay with them and they'd get your money - honestly! You just keep paying for the next month or two then we'll put in the change of circumstances, freeze interest etc.... Don't say anything to them about you taking things over yourself just yet, prove to them things are going to still be repaid then they'll be more sympathetic.

Work on your IE sheet over the coming days - no mad rush - and make sure it's right. You need to be able to live your lifestyle on what you have left, so be realistic. As for letters, those are a little bit in the future, so don't worry about them now. One step at a time hey! For now carry on paying to establish your credibility with your creditors and work on an accurate IE sheet. Those would be my two priorities.

I've helped someone who's been through exactly this situation, so I'll ask him tomorrow to take a look and help as well.

As I said before, any questions, just ask. Nothing is stupid or too small or too big on here. Just ask, that's what we're here for!

I will then pay all of my creditors as it was with DMC. the only question: how can I do that if I haven't got their account numbers as DMC was doing that on my behalf and DMC didnt give on monthly statements me those details just the name of my creditor and amount of money paid.

also what about the last payday loans I had to take?they are due 15th and 16th July. I'm opening the new bank account with co-op so wonga and mini credit(i took two of them while on dmp with dmc) wont be able to take money out from my old account.

any advie please?

I'd try first asking DMC for them (they'd have to supply them if you sent an SAR to them), otherwise you'll have to contact your creditors now I guess. If you do, keep it simple so they have no reason to doubt you're going to continue paying.

Gabi,

Can you afford to pay them for one month or not (alongside your current DMP payments)?

You need to get that IE sheet filled in so you know your disposable income. Once you've done that we'll know the pro rata payments to offer your creditors. Obviously this will include your new accounts, so if you can't afford them, try to make a token payment and send a letter saying you've had a change of circumstances.

Unfortunately the site has disabled my message facility, I think because I helped someone who was banned for one week pass an e-mail to people they were helping so they didn't feel abandoned, I'm not sure whether I'm heading in the same direction, so if I vanish search for Caspar on conumer forums and you'll find me again.

Tingy,

I cant afford pay wonga this month. i've read some posts about minicredit and some people said it's better to pay them off because they are very difficult to deal with. if i will do it i will have to pay them £192 (I took £150). also i've read that just before payment is due I should write an email to wonga saiyng i cant afford make a payment because of my circumstances.

with my dmp £164 and that minicredit £192 will be £356 which is quite a lot of money for me.

also i've just gone through my I&E with DMC I had and I've noticed my income there is £200 more than I'm getting at the moment.

I thought as I was reading posts here if I start my own dmp i could send to all of my creditors new I&E and the letter about change of circumstances.

What do you suggest?

Thank you Tingy for your help.

Hello everyone,

I've got a question: I stopped my dmp with company who charged me for that and decided to do it on my own.since I've started my dmp in December last year my wages went down because I'm not getting any extra money as I used to.

I did my budget sheet and it shows I've got left about £70 instead of £200 on my plan with that company.Till now I paid every month £164 pro-rata to all of my creditors.

What is your advice Guys? What shall I do first? I was warned by DMC that my creditors may not negotiate with me.

Any help please?

Thank you.

Have a read of Sequenci's debt blogs .. the link is in my signature.

You are right to dump a DMP where you are being charged. This money can go to paying off your creditors.

If you feel unable to deal with this on your own, then contact either National Debtline or CCCS who are debt counselling charities.

Have a read round the forums, and you will see plenty of people who have decided to deal with their creditors themselves, with success :)
